That definitely looks like a factory flaw in the leather wrap. That is not really a wear spot in the seats. I would definitely make them cover that!

I certainly hope you're not TD1 - you might be out of luck.
Seriously, though, it doesn't look caused by normal wear, so I would think it should be covered.

No TD1 glad I held off on APR. Plus it's the passenger seat.

They would have to prove that the tune caused the cracking of the leather. I guess they can say that your butt experienced the added torque of an APR tune that the seat was not rated for.

Are you kidding - that's terrible.
Would definitely take to the dealer before you hit 12K, and at the rate you put miles on your car, would so so ASAP!!!!

Apparently certain items are only covered for the first year. Someone mentioned to me that seats fall into that category but I had my bolster replaced on my sport seats after 2+ years of ownership. There was never any questioning on whether it would be covered. The dealer took some pictures and ordered the parts....I was in/out in 10min. The install took a few hours a couple weeks later.
BTW, I'm also as TDI as it gets :)
"Almost" completely stock.

The dealership was no help. They already have a rep coming out the 17th. So I bring it in that day and the Audi rep desides if they will cover it or not. So I have to live with this for 2 weeks

If under 12K, it should be covered. I would raise hell if not.

i worked a lot with leather and Audi's leather is very good compared to others... it stretches but shouldn't rip like that... it was definitely a flaw from factory... bitch, scream and kick if you have to but they must change/repair that!

Definitely should be a warranty item. There is no way should they deny something like that.

Mileage is all about wear and tear. But you should be covered under the 1yr/12k mile interior coverage.
Did you get any documentation from the dealership that this was reported at 11.6K miles? That should also be all you need as proof even if you go over the miles now.

MW is right. They should have documented the mileage when you went in. I had a few warranty items that needed to be addressed, so I took my car in at 49,9xx and had them documented so that I could bring my car back and have the work done under warranty the next week when I had time to leave it for a couple days and would certainly be over 50k by then.

Is it a tear or an abrasion? Did anything get spilled on the seat? In my last car, I had a small amount of garage cleaner leak out of a bottle I bought at Home Depot. I didn't notice it for a few days. It collected in the seam and ate the stitching as well as some of the leather.
If that's normal wear then I would agree it should be covered, but it kinda looks like something else from the photo. I'd be prepared for that response when you take it in.

Just saw it checked to see what it is and the rip was there, that entire part of the seat feels extremely soft. It's right on the stitching. The rest of that stitch is coming apart now

I think you have a pretty solid case of a defective material.
That does not look like you forgot to take your switchblade out of your back pocket.

I'm with MW on this it doesn't look like a clean cut or anything of that sort plus chemicals would change the color of the leather if they were spilled...

Read the booklet which came with your car describing the different types of warranties that apply to a new Audi. Certainly an argument to be made for repair within the 12 month/12K period.

2 service guys. One was a dick and said " don't listen to Internet forums. EVERYTHING is 5 yr/50k" then the other guy printed me a form. It's like he was mad I came back to cover my bases. Then again the guy who printed my sheet knew my names since I always went there with by b7 and bought that and my b8 there

Should be covered. I've had both of my seatbacks & one set of leather fixed because the wrong seatbacks were in my seats, pushing out my bolsters and causing leather wear.

Ok guys well I'm very happy with how it went, the enitre thing took less than 10 mins. The rep was probrably in his 40-50's he likes the way my car looks and he approved it to be covered!! They are ordering the parts and will re wrap it next week, Audi parts guy said it would take half a day. My only concerns are what if this happens to the drivers seat? I brought it up to him and he checked every seat and said they look properly installed and wraped. My last concern is they are only ordering the bottom part of the seat (where the damage is). I don't know how this will work but i'm also not very educated on our car seats. Are our seats two seperate parts? Will update after they fix the issue.

Glad everything worked out. From my 12 years of Audi experience it all comes down to a dealer. I recently had an issue with crackling tail lights so I took it to my regular dealer and they said they wouldn't cover it since it does not look like a defect but more of a stress marks. Week after I was servicing my wife's VW at another Audi/VW dealer and while picking up my wife in my A4 I showed an SA/manager my tail lights to which his reply was "let's order a pair" A week later new tail lights were in at no charge of course.
