What Type Of Springs? H&R Or Vogtland

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just did my wheels black again, NOT PLASTI DIP. lol
Up next, Nitto Motivo tires in a couple days..
Springs NEXT.. so, H&R 50314 or Vogtland 950054

Okay, there are SPORT Springs, and there are RACE Springs..how come our Audi's dont have race springs?!

if you guys have any pictures with any of those springs please post it here=]
and which brand or springs are more reliable, better for handling..etc

Here are pics of the wheels i did today, How did i do it?
- 1 THIN coat plasti dip
- 3/4 THICK Coats Rustoleum Automotive Black Gloss Paint
- 3/4 THICK Coats Rustoleum Automotice Protective Clear Coat
BEFORE you start the judging about painting tires..im changing tires in two days and i dont care about these tires..
if i taped the inside or put cards, then the paint wouldnt go under and it would chip off or the original color would show when tape or paper is taken out

Like it or not, leave your comments below..i like it alot, enjoy the smooth glossy feel, feels original and im happy with the results

i have the H&R springs. I dislike them very much. They are very bouncy/stiff, basically you loose the ride confort. On the other hand, I've had Vogtland Coilovers on my old audi a6 c5 and absoultely loved them. The ride comfort was close to factory and I had the thing slammed on the ground. I havent ha the opportunity to try out their springs yet, but I would research before I selected the H&R's. I'm not the only one who is dissapointed with them. Here is a pic of my car with the H&Rs for reference, as far as drop is concerned.

Comparing springs to coils isn't really fair ...
Either do springs and shocks or coils, aftermarket springs will generally not handle the best when mated with stock struts.

Do you think i should go with Vogtland's? Both are also springs, i dont really think i should get coilovers, not just because its about 4 times the price of springs, but also the fact that i drive this car everyday, i dont want to have a slammed car..yes, i know i can adjust but if im going to get the same drop then might as well get springs, but thanks alot on the comparison..my friend brags about the H&R's on his E60 bmw, but i guess vogtlands are better?

I'm on Bilstein Struts, they were bouncy right from the getgo.....I've had a pretty wide range of suspension setups from the 16 vw/audi cars I've had.
When I do it all over again, I will be going with KW Coilovers. They were fantastic when I had them before.

Bilstein struts are stiffer than Koni yellows.
I'd buy KWs for my car if they made V1s, but I'm not spending the money on V3s for my car. I'll end up with H&R coils whenever I do suspension ...

if i can do it again yea i would go with some nice coil overs. spending extra $200-300 on coil over vs mix match springs and shocks. find my set up very comfortable and smooth ride. i DD my car and smooth ride was my #1 priority then looks and i am happy with what i have. sorry that your car is bouncy i would hate to have my audi bounce around like hondas.

OP, I have been down the same road you are currently stuck on. Considering you live in LA and dont have the winters like here in New England, personally I would go with coilovers. Yes, they are 4 times the amount of springs, but if your going to do it, do it once and do it right. I went bilstein shocks with vogtland springs on my B5 S4 and hated them. Had them in for 2 weeks and went with H&R coils. Hated those even though I was not slammed, because the car just didnt drive the way it should have. Felt very bouncy and harsh at times. Now on my B6 S4, I went with Vogtland coilovers. I am pretty slammed and they car rides perfect. Almost seems as If it has the same exact ride quality except its alot lower. Its just my 2 cents but I have seen numerous amount of people go with springs because its much cheaper than coils and they end up hating it.

Your honestly very right, i will just have to see what any shops around here even have, if anything i will just order online and have some shop install...
and this is just a small street next to my school, its where everyone parks lol..i was thinking going with H&R springs and then changing the shocks and everything else, but i guess coils are my best bet..

Quite interesting. I thought H&R coilovers was the preferred brand vs the others. Did you get the right kit for your S4 ? I do agree - with H&R sport springs, the ride can be very bouncy, that's why I m going with coil overs.

Yes I had ordered the right kit. I've had 2 b5's and thought maybe the h&r's were a great coil over. Learned twice that they are crap.

I'm on Vogtland/Bilstein and am happy with the setup. Ride height is perfect as a dd and I have no complaints with regard to ride quality/ handling.
