2013 allroad standard equipment...food for thought
a friend sent me this from the vancouver international autoshow in canada today. i know the order guides are not out yet, and this is probably wishful thinking, but the "standard" equipment listed is quite upscale, as these items are typically optional. perhaps they are listing the features of the actual display model, but if this is indeed the standard equipment for the allroad, it would be a pleasant surprise.
for example:
19" 5 arm alloy wheels with 245/40 performance tires (guess audi figures the allroad won't be going offroad!)
drive select
side assist
active lane assist
sport seats
fine nappa leather
note that the opensky panoramic roof is not listed as standard equipment.
i actually quite like the 5 arm alloy wheels compared to the potato peelers! *sigh* if they would only release the order guides already!

God I hope ADS isn't standard. I could do without side assist as well.

uploaded some pictures
nappa leather sport seats:
beefy three spoke steering wheel with round airbag:
drive select button (likely limited to steering only as it does not appear to have full ADS options). shift knob is okay, but i prefer the new s-tronic round version compared to these big turkey drumsticks!
leather door cards and wood beltline trim:
5 arm 19" alloy wheels (looks painted instead of polished). improvement over the potato peelers:
black trim with monsoon (not monochromatic but blends ok):
side profile:

i agree that any aftermarked suspension upgrades would negate any benefits of full ADS (magnetic ride suspension, throttle, and steering) but i recall drive select for allroad is limited to steering adjustment only.
side assist would be a nice upgrade to the euro blindspot mirrors i'm using now. i know there was some concern with giving false alarms to radar dectectors.
i could do without active lane assist to reduce cost... i can travel between lane lines without intervention!

I test drove an A4 Allroad in Seattle several weeks ago that had ADS. The suspension characteristics (response and firmness) did change as part of the ADS settings. It also impacted throttle response, gear shift behavior and steering feel.
The A4 Allroad was still a "German spec" that was doing a dealer tour of N.A..

new pictures of mmi, and ground to fender height, and gap
mmi start menu:
mmi screen with ADS. it nice to see the actual image of the allroad and not some generic image of a car.
ground to fender height front and rear is 29 inches or ~74cm
26.71" is the overall diameter for 245/40/19, so gap should be ~2.3" or ~6cm. picture of the rear strut with orange boot:

Looks like Prem+ may be the sweet spot, since you can get the options you want A la Carte now.

allroad is no longer a cost effective option
audi decided to subsidize the cost of the a4 and s4 sedans in 2013 by including navigation and b/o sound at the highest trim level which is cost savings of ~$4,000 based on canada order guides.
there is no such subsidization with the allroad as navigation and b/o is optional. full body paint is another $1,300. when all said and done, a fully equipped allroad is only a few thousand less than an s4! heck, you could get a fully loaded a4 with s-line package which includes flat bottom steering wheel, black headliner, audi drive select, alcantara seats, etc for the same price as an allroad without navigation and b/o!
unless you are want an avant, the 2013 a4/s4 sedans are a much better deal.
pricing for allroad in canada. audi drive select, sport seats, are not even listed as options.

thanks for posting the price sheet audibmi!
Good gawd... they really did jack up the price of the allroad over the outgoing avant.
My sales guy said he would take my order for MSRP or at MSRP-$500. There is no way I will pay MSRP for that car, especially not to claim "first".
With the Q5 selling like hotcakes and meeting many needs of American consumers, It is looking like Audi priced the allroad way too high to be successful.
What do you folks think a decent offer would be on a new allroad? This would be my first Audi purchase...

I agree - if Audi is thinking that they can make a few more $$$ with the Allroad badge and plastic cladding - especially in a price range situated comprably with the Q5, I think that will be a mistake.
When I bought my 2012 Avant, I made a general inquiry as to how much more the Allroad would be over the Avant, and my sales associate said it would not be much, maybe about $3K, but have a hunch it will be a few $K more then her estimate to get a nicely equipped one.

The matte hardwood floor looking door and console trim is a little cheezy.

Agreed. Otherwise, I'll take it as is...and then do some modding, of course.
It's definitely growing on me.

It's the same as your Avant, outside of 4X4 mode, though.

No, IMO (on the street) it didn't look anything like a regular Avant. The plastic cladding made it look like something entirely different ....in a bad way. It looked bulbous and over-weight rather than streamlined with muscular cuts.

perhaps its was the non-monochromatic trim that over accentuated the plastic fenders. looking at these photos with color matched trim, it appears to be pretty slim, even next to a skinny chick

Color-matched trim helps, but it still looks a bit bloated compared to the Avant.

Hmmm. I just keep thinking about that red one with the color-matched moldings. That's why I'm of the opinion they're the same/similar.

That's Canadian pricing. But even still, there seems to be a 2k increase from the outgoing Avant.
edit: price increase seems appropriate with the additional standard features.

I agree at first glance that console trim seems off. However it's growing on me. PLUS, all of the latest models (A7) have this type of trim. I also think it's in the bimmers. Seems like this is the direction we're going. I'm thinking of replacing my brushed aluminum with some type of wood trim, just for a change. I'm considering this trim vs the shiny trim. We'll see!! Anyone know when this would be available to purchase separately?
