    Brake Upgrade for Q5

What recommendations do you guys have? I am looking for red caliper covers, new pads that will create less dust and slotted disc's. I can't find much in terms of calipers so anything you guys might have knowledge of is much appreciated.

Going with a BBK? A fellow member has RS5 fronts on (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...name-Frostbite)... and it looks great :) As for other options, I haven't seen much out there, but Brembo/Stoptech/AP come in mind and may have something that fits...

More cost effective alternatives (if not tracking or going all out) would be new (low dust) pads and rotors (possibly stainless brake lines to change the pedal feel). There are a few forum sponsors (Adams, AMI, AWE, ECS, and more) that would be able to help with that.

Ya that pretty much covers it. Stoptech has nothing in a BBK for the Q5. I've been down that road. The only company I have found is brembo.

The Brembo kit is too expensive IMO for the Q5, since it's not a "performance" vehicle. More than anything I just want the calipers to be red or black even and then reduce the dust. I will probably look into painting the calipers or look into the RS5 in the above post. I am defininitley going to swap out the pads with some ceramic pads I think.

I had mine custom painted. Saved a bunch of money and they look great. (~$400 for the paint & labor, $20 in vinyl high-temp decals)

At the next break pad change I plan on going to ceramics. The front brake pad dust is pretty unbelievable on the Q.

I had the fronts dual colored Red/Black, and the rear calipers just red.

If you find a good custom shop they'll do it right, with the right paint, etc. Only took them about a day to do mine, and he took them completely apart, painted, re-installed and filled up the brake lines again.

For BBK, I'm sure STASIS has something but their $$ as well. I did inquired about a BBK for the Q5 a while back and I found these guys: http://2bennett.com.
They were offering a 6 piston Brembo calipers and 350mm(13.8") rotors for about $2300.

For myself, I'm changing my brake pads next wk. Gonna go with the Hawk HPS.

I agree the brembo is too expensive. I don't mind spending the money if I get use out of them but for my wife to drive back and forth to work I don't know?? The RS5 kit is also way overpriced more than brembo not worth it IMO. I think Adams rotors or another set of rotors and some nice pads will work out fine. I had my calipers powder coated black I love them. I'm not into the bright colors unless it's a real BBK.

I agree 100% JOS. I acutally own an industrial blasting and coating business so I may remove them blast them with aluminum oxide and either spray them myself with black/red urethane or send them to powder coaters that I do business with.

Black powder-coated calipers against that Sprint Blue looks gorgeous, I'm sure.

Just bought some G2 caliper black paint and 4 rings logo decals. Just going to do this at home myself after researching the G2 paint product. Should be rather simple, will post pics whenever they come in and I get it done.

Thanks but my Q5 is ibis white. The sprint blue S4 is my old S4, but those too had black calipers and they were awesome!!

Hardest part about doing it yourself is #1- having access to a lift to do all 4 at the same time before the paint cures, and #2- if you have things painted separate colors like mine were, the calipers have to be taken apart and the brake lines bled, etc. If you leave them on, then you're taping, taping, taping!

Other than that it is a DIY job, if you have the space and ability.

Good luck... let's see some pics when it's all done.

    this is mine;

i love the 8 potter, progressive braking and stops fast at the same time. it may not be the best to some, but it performs wickedly. my Forge 6 potter on my Golf GTI bites stronger and harder than my RS 8 potter though. price was USD3.2k installed. anyway, i am thinking of getting another brand for my upcoming S5 V8, or maybe another RS 8 potter as well? hehe.
