    wheel bolts s4 stock lenght?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know how long the stock wheel bolts are on a b6 S4? and or what lenght bolts to get for 10mm spacers? thanks. (i thought stock was like 28mm, but not 100% sure)

Also on 5mm spacers can you use the stock bolts or would you still get longer ones? thanks!

    18inch oem's offset is +45.

The wheel bolt length you should buy, all depend on offset is what I've learned from here. I believe that the oem length of the wheel bolt is 28mm (14x1.5x28). SO, if you decide to do +38 offset... that is a 7mm difference, so you would then add 7mm to the 28mm wheel bolt. Which means you'd look for 14x1.5x(28+7)...32. They might not have exactly 32 (ecstuning.com has 33 > http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B6_S4-...s/Wheel_Bolts/) I hope this makes sense!

Oh and if you get a spacer, say 5mm like you posted... also add 5mm. I think this is right? Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, I am here to learn as well

Stock bolt size is 27mm IIRC. You could probably get away with 3mm spacers and no extended lugs, but I wouldn't push it with 5.

Beesick, bolt length isn't determined by offset, bolt size is depended the width of the spacer you are using.

Not entirely true. Different wheels will require different lengths and the ET DOES does affect the length.

Isn't bolt length based on the thickness of the mounting plate on the wheel? Different offsets would cause a need for a spacer, which makes the mounting plate that much thicker, needing a longer bolt.

I have a B7 but when I went from the stock ET43 to aftermarket wheels with an ET of 35, I needed longer bolts.

Interested, I'd love to hear a full explanation on this if someone could give one, I went from Ultrasports ET 43 to V708s ET 38 for the winter and didn't need longer bolts except for the two wheels I used spacers on.

SO your saying.. the lower that offset number the further the rims come out right? so if stock offset is 45 and im lookign at rims with 35 offset that would equal 10mm spacers.. right?

In a perfect world yes but each wheel designer varies that by a bit. With that said with the dozen, or so, wheels I have bought over the years that has always seemed to work for me. To make sure you are close to the right length measure how far the stock bolt protrudes out of your stock wheels and then put the same bolt in the new wheel and see how far it sticks out simple addition will give you the length you need to get.

    Cheers,
    Jim
