    Interesting Dealer Brakes Responce

Dropped off my car at the dealer the other day for a few things that needed taking care of.

1: They had to re-do the tint as whoever they had apply it the first time did a horrible job. Apparently it was someone new they were trying out, my guess is they're not going to be using them again. Normal guy they use removed it and installed the new tint. Came out perfect the second time around.

2: Start/Stop button started peeling where the letters are, got a damn good splinter from it too. They ordered and installed a new button no problem

3: Front brakes were making a weird noise when applied, especially when braking from speed. Almost fell like very slightly warped rotors but the rotors and pads were brand new when I got the car, maybe 300 miles on it. I even took the service rep for ride and he heard/felt it also. When I picked up the car the service rep told me they found nothing wrong with the brake. Service technician checked it and found nothing wrong. Tech took it for a ride with the service rep and they heard/felt nothing but noted that the brakes did smoke/smell a little. Said the brake were not fully broken in and it may take up to 1000 miles before they are. I'm calling BS on this as I already put that many miles on it. He went to say that the noise I was hearing was from the tires loading up when braking. Amazing what BS this guy is trying to pull over me but you couldn't argue with him. Told him that's pure bull shit as the tires are almost new and I have never heard tires make noise especially when braking. I even told him I'll swap the tires off and put on my 20" wheels/tires this weekend and I bet the brakes will still make the noise. He said if that happens they'll look into it again. I have a feeling someone over tightened the lugs warping the rotors. They did have one of the wheels repaired of road rash and I got the feeling that would be the cause as those guys just impact the shit out of them when putting the wheels back on.

Also spoke to my salesman afterwards as we became good friends and he said he'll talk to his buddy mechanic that works there on Monday and get it resolved. We'll see what happens. If they still give me a hard time I'll give Audi USA a call...anyone have the number?

Funnier part is I want to swap out the new pads for Akebono pads. Put them on my other A5 and they preformed great and most importantly they produced NO brake dust on the wheels.

Sorry for my rant but I needed to get that out. :)

I am thinking about getting new pads because the dust is killing me! On this thread people recommend either Hawk, Akebono, or StopTech. Any reason why you chose Akebono? Are you happy with the performance?

I just took my car to the dealer and i had squeaking brakes at very low speeds. There is a technical bulletin to replace the brakes. They basically replaced the brakes on all 4 wheels. No squeaking now!

No complaints at all. Very affordable, very very low dust and they also come with the sensor unlike the others. Matter of fact my fronts were cleaner than the rears which had oem pads.

The sensor that lets the car know the pads are low. I run stoptech. Much less dust and no noise.

Do the Stoptech pads also have the sensor?
