B8 A4 Audio HELP!
Looking into getting an 09-11 A4 and I am likely to upgrade the stereo once I get it. I had a few questions for those who have added subs or speakers in there audi's. I am looking to add an 12" sub ported to the trunk powered by 1200w amp. Im going to do the big 3 electrical upgrade under the hood.
Is it very difficult to add a sub/amp wired to the stock head unit? I wanted to keep the original layout of the front with adding bass to the car. I know how to do car audio pretty well but compatibility can always be an issue with stock units.
Second I am curious if anyone has tried the ms-8 in there car. I heard it could improve the stock speakers and make my addition of sub/amp easy. Any ideas?
link is here.

Thanks for the help :)

Not to give you the whole, you should try a search first thing...but in this particular case, you REALLY should try doing a search first.
Both of your questions have been specifically answered on this forum, with one of them being very recently. Just a heads up.

Ive searched in 3 sections on this forum along with searching in 2 other forums. Ive gotten the most response from this forum hence why I created my thread.

The best advice would be if you're planning to upgrade the audio, don't get a car with the B&O system. It makes it very difficult to upgrade to aftermarket.

Should go for one with more options I chose poorly when I bought just a premium, and regret it every day. Just my .02 you might feel differently, and all depends on what you can find I guess. I've been looking for a 2011 with some options I want but never come close, might just have to order one and take the loss on some depreciation.

Got the A4 2010 in black stoked as fuck. The only thing I was kinda sad about was there was no ski-hatch for my sub/s. But thats minor and ill get over it. On the other hand, Has anyone done the big 3 upgrade? Ive done it twice but the hood of this car is quite confusing.

Why do you want to do the upgrade? Is it really necessary? I've done part of it in an older Audi but after I did it I found that it really wasn't necessary. That was with over 2000W RMS of class AB power.

I already have 10 ft of Stinger Hyperflex 1/0 black so thought it would be an easy upgrade for voltage. Im going to be running a Sundown 1200.1D powering a 12 ported in the trunk. I dont think I have the B/O system.

The issue with my last Audi was getting to the alternator connection. It was buried under the engine. I haven't looked at the B8 yet to see how accessible it is but if you can get to it and want to do it I don't see any harm in doing it but 1200W class D should be no problem for the factory electrical system. What else would you be putting in besides the sub. Seems like a lot of sub to be pairing up with the OEM system unless you're just planning to listen to bass.

I listen to everything and love base. I dont have the ski hatch so its going to have to get louder in the trunk. I dont plan on upgrading the stock speakers unless I feel necessary. I already like how loud they go. Ill take a couple pictures and see if I can catch all the spots.

Im not going with free air sub.

To many questions... please help
1. How do you disconnect and remove the factory sub?
2. Will disconnecting it from the amp mess anything up?
3. Is the easiest way to wire the amps power from the battery in the trunk?
4. How do I connect the amp to the factory system?
5. Do you recommend doing the big 3 for 1400w?
I started a thread in my audio forum but I dont know if anyone has worked with a B8 A4. If your interested...

just because you have a 2010 doesn't mean you don't have B&O. just hook the amp to the battery cuz the remote wire is what turns on the amp. you are way overthinking this with trying to completely integrate the new system with the stock. all you need to do is piggyback off the stock system. you can use this method on any car and will have no issues at all.

From the questions you are asking, it seems that you might be in over your head on this one. Factory integration can be a dangerous thing to start messing with if you don't know exactly what you are doing and how it affects the rest of the electronics in the car. My suggestion would be a find someone near you that has some knowledge of working on this car and get it done right the first time.

I've done previous installs but it was on a 2005 F150 and I completely redid everything. Is it possible just to disconnect the sub and plug in the RCA's from my new sub into the back of the stock head unit? I didnt want to have to route the RCA's to the stock amp witch is wired to the head unit.

use a line connecter and use the signal from the stock sub to run the rca to the amp, there is no rca on the back of the head units (as far as i know)

first of there is a complete thread about this wire wire diagrams and how other people did it here : http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ht=aftermarket
for the questions.
1. You locate the sub and cut the wire. that simple. nothing happens to the system in the car. it just looses one speaker.
2. see question one.
3. yes. using the battery in the trunk would be the best option to give power to the aftermarket amp. i did it this way. no problems at all.
4. you don't connect the amp to the factory unit. what you do is buy a LOC ((line out converter)(cheap)) connect the LOC to the sub output from the original amp, this loc down converts the signal from the original amp into the LOC and then outputs it as a low voltage signal again that it passes on to the aftermarket amp.
5. no idea what a "big 3" is. sorry, please do tell me what he hell it is though. (NVM Googled the hell out of it). haven't heard about anyone needing it for a 1400W amp. can't say more about that though.
if you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

if you've done this before, you know it's really a very simple task if he's just adding a aftermarket amp and a sub. you don't have to go over your own head to make it more confusing throwing implications at the guy.
nothing dangerous about this operation if you just give him some simple pointers.
i've done numerous of stereo builds in older cars, nothing similar to this. all it took was some research and some pointers from other people that actually had done this before. Everyone has to be a Noob at some point.
