Internship opportunities?
Hey guys,
I was thinking today about my summer plans. I have been applying for various internships as I am a junior mechanical engineer and it dawned on me that in order to find something I am interested in I should probably advertise here..
Anyway I was just curious if any bay area audi enthusiasts were looking for motivated interns? Obviously I am very interested in automotive technology and design. If anyone has or is aware of any opportunities please let me know!
Thanks friends that is all...

My clothing line, Crawl Apparel, will be hiring a few interns this summer if you are interested in the word of screen printing/design/fashion.

Theres a contact form on there that will go directly to me if you are interested!

Hey man I am always down for any jobs I can get in this economy! I appreciate it... alot. I'm going to look for engineering based stuff too, but look for Nicholas Prince in your stack of applications! I'd love to work part/full time

I know it sounds more like Civil, but I would apply to construction companies too. They hire on ME's for MEP systems and stuff. If you are interested in that direction.
Best of luck!

and I've worked for contractors and that kinda thing.... when things stand still i tend to lose interest haha

Where are you studying at? I'm a senior Mechanical Engineer at SFSU, graduating in the Fall and I'm looking for internships too. There's an engineering career fair at school this week and hopefully I will find something that interests me.

Have any of you tried applying to Tesla? They're in our own back yard, right? =P
If you want automotive, you may have to prepare to head to the midwest.... Start applying to Dearborn, Auburn Hills, etc.

Toyota's corporate office is in Torrance, and Mazda's is in Irvine.

Chrysler has offices near LA as well.

True, but the real question is, are they hiring engineers for those locations?
Automotive/Industrial Design =/= Actual Engineering
I suspect that they will be hiring ME's near the production lines/test tracks. Corporate office doesn't necessarily mean that they design the cars (well, maybe they draw up artistic concepts...) or components there...

Cool, too bad they wouldn't need industrial designers.

If you're looking for industrial design work, try Nissan's design center in San Diego.

Thanks, I don't do automotive though :)
I have a job, but wsp looks like a cool company to work for.

That's a good point to bring up. If you ME guys are open to careers outside of automotive, there are plenty of HVAC/energy related jobs in CA. It can be rewarding if you like thermo, fluids, heat transfer, etc.... though not for those who are into machine design or manufacturing.

Ya the career fairs at our school have had a scarce number of engineering companies show up it sucks. I doubt Tesla is hiring but I think I will apply there anyways.
@Noma12vA4 I know its late, I'm on the quarter system so I still have a whole other quarter before summer and I wasn't sure if i wanted to take a bunch of ge classes to get them out of the way or not. And I would be very interested! I'm in santa clara commuting is not an issue for me though.
