    2001 A6 4.2 Timeline/Build Thread

I've been meaning to do this for awhile now.

I got the car in March 2010 with 97k miles and it was pretty much stock other than the LED tail lights. It has the sport and cold weather packages.

Here is how it sat then.

Like most people who do not know better bought wheels on impulse without regard for suspension and offset.
Staggered Raderwerks Hard-8s (19x8.5et30 w/ 235/35 in front and 19x9.5et30 w/ 265/35 in back) offsets are with spacers)

Then I lowered it with H and R race springs and installed H and R front and rear sways.

Next I got RS6 grilles, blacked out all the trim and installed "fog light scoop things" lol idk what to call them from lltek.

Then i got a facelifted rear bumper with exhaust cutouts and installed that as well as rear parking sensors.

This was to accomadate magnaflow mufflers. First I just had the mufflers installed but it was still too quiet for me so I had the resonator removed and still wasnt satisfied. so now the main cats have been removed and its 2.5" straight pipe back to the mufflers. Here is a bad video of how it sounds now.

I was lucky enough to score and RS6 trunk lid and side skirts from a user on here who's car was unfortunately wrecked.

I installed the side skirts and trunk as well as added a euro plate tub with dual rear fog mod and smoked out part or the tail lights. About this time I also installed DDM 35W 3500k HID fogs and clear cornered and black out the headlights as well as upgrading the low beams to a 55W 8000k setup also from DDM.

Car stayed like that for awhile. Running on the OEM fat fives that I had powdercoated matte black with 255/40 continentals.

Last fall I got some 18x9.5 cast concave Rotifrom NUE's in tiffany blue. I spaced the rears out 25mm to et0.

Got in a little accident so time to rework the front end.

Which brings me to the build portion of this.

This winter I accquired a new front bumper.

    Fender Roller

    Plastic Welder

    ST Coliovers

    C6 S6 DRL's

The plan is shaved and smoothed front bumper (no plate holes or headlight washers and fit the S6 lights with some custom grille work. Then roll and slightly pull the fenders and hopefully get somewhere around 23"-23.5" FTG and et0 all the way around. Vinyl wrap matte white. (hopefully get door moldings shaved before the wrap)

(pics will be up as I find them)

    Looks great!

Let me know if that fender roller works on the aluminum front fenders. I did mine with a c-clamp and a couple pieces of wood. It was slow and tedious, but worked on the aluminum fenders. This was the recommended way from the RS4 guys who also have aluminum fronts.

Hey Josh, do you have any mid to mid-low angle straight from the rear? I'm debating on whether to keep the turn downs or go with tips.

So went to put the coils in yesterday and they sent me the wrong parts. I received a tt/r32 suspension and of course neither kw nor ECS was open on sat so gotta call tomorrow and straighten this shit out. So pissed! Did manage to roll the fenders. I was able to do the fronts no problem and even gave the rears a little pull using the fender roller. Still need to do a little more work on the rears

At least I got the fenders started this weekend. Here's a before and after of the rears. The roller was able to push them out pretty far. Still needs some more work but you get the point.

Saw a pic on instagram of you or some guy named parker pulling your fenders with your new tool. Any pics on how that came out? I have access to one of those and really want to do it. But ALL the finished shots I see, are either atrocious and wrinkled to hell, or perfect and smooth. I want the second of those results.

That was me and that's my tool lol. There is def a learning curve. The passenger rear has some wave to it but the driver rear is pretty smooth just need to extend the pull toward the front more. Going to spend more time on them this weekend to get them right. Here's some shitty pics of the progress.

This one you can see how far out it came just need work the transition more

Here you can see where it use to have a flat edge on the fender and that's been pulled out so it rolls with the rest of the fender.

If you do it just go really slow and gradual. I didnt care about the paint or anything cause im wrapping it so i was really agressive. Its not really designed to pull the fenders with but i definitely worked for what i wanted just need to spend some more time getting them perfect!

I think I'm going balls out and doing it. I'm ordering super meaty tires for my 19's soon and i refuse to drive a 4x4 so I'm going to stuff them under the fenders so pulling will be necessary.

The difference in that second to last pic is nuts from the OEM curve at the bottom to the pulled part at the top. Nuts!

Got the coilovers installed and worked in the fenders some more. The rears came out pretty good but the fronts do not like the fender roller! Need to play around with spacer sizes and probably get some smaller tires. But it's getting there. Here's some iPhone pics for now.

    Thanks man!

I got the bumper all sanded and ready for paint. the lights need a second bracket made still. And I'm still waiting on material for the fog grilles.

The project however is going to be put on hold for awhile. I found out yesterday I'm deploying for 6 months so looks like tomorrows Dubs on Defrost will be my only show for 2012.

Hey look, its that guy who NEVER parked at DoD and drove around the entire time lol.

I saw you pull in, so I followed you around on foot for about a minute or so, then you started to back into a spot. So I went to my car, grabbed my cell since I didn't want to leave it in my car. Turned around, and you were gone haha. Then you must have passed me like 3 times during your rounds.

Nice seeing your car in person either way. I walked next to your car for a minute so get a look at your fenders, seeing how your rears came out makes me want to do mine now. Might make that a weekend project soon.
