Welp, wanna put 19s on the car but REALLY dont wanna bother putting coilovers on...kinda afraid how high its gonna sit, anyone have pics for me so I can kinda get an idea?

I did 19s before suspension and wasn't happy with the look until I got coilovers. If I were you I would do suspension first!

You already know the answer...

If you size the tires properly, there is no effective change in ride height (plus 1, minus 1, etc).

i.e. the stock 235/40R18 would need to be 235/35R19 to maintain identical overall height. For every inch you pick up in wheel diameter, the aspect ratio needs to come down by 5. Once you change the widths, it goes out the window and you'll need to use a calculator.

the thing that creates the 4x4 look imo is when you have a stretched tire.

I hated the Dunlops for the record. They are a garbage tire. I went with a 255/35ZR19 Hankook Ventus V12 when I replaced the crappy Dunlops and couldn't be much happier.. the Hankooks are a pretty stellar tire for the money. And there is even less fender gap now (actually I had to do the top screw removal on the front).

The ride is perfect, it looks even better than with the Dunlops. I don't sweat it on the rare occasion that it's pouring down rain and I can't see a pothole and clip one.

Don't get me wrong, I love the way that dropped cars on coils look but I'm awfully happy with the stance I have and I can negotiate the average driveway without dragging bodywork.

re: the tiny bit of reverse rake.... I keep toying around with the idea of putting b5 spring perches on it to drop the front end a shade, but I never get around to ordering them.

No thanks. The S is low enough, I have no interest in tucking tire, having to carefully negotiate every driveway, worry about dragging going over speedbumps. If it sat as high as an A4, it would be a consideration, but I've been there, done that, and I'm not interested in riding low like this ever again:

BTW, not everybody can afford wheels tires and suspension at the same time. My stock wheels are curbed and completely ruined from the previous owner and horrible repair job somebody did on them and one tire won't hold full pressure, also my tires are worn and need to be replaced so I want to get a nice set of wheels and tires but cannot afford suspension. I know it will look ugly so Im debating picking up some hr springs temporarily until I can afford some ohlins are V3's 2300 bucks FYI not cheap.

Just picked this up in January. <28,000 miles. Found the wheels on Craigslist. Found a local guy to refinish the wheels and color match them to the car. Found a deal on 4 brand new 245/35/19 Good Year F1 Asymetrical tires for only $700 installed. Trying to upgrade the suspension ASAP.

I have a set of 19" BBS CH Black Editions sitting on my porch (locked to a concrete pillar with an alarm, so don't try to steal em haha), I haven't put them on yet until I get suspension...but this thread is making me consider putting them on anyway...I just wish these cars didn't have so much butt sag...

Yeah that A4 sits really high. Guess I didnt' realize how much higher they sit than S4's. That car really needs a drop!

Guess I never really realized it! And it's surprising considering the V8 up front, I would have thought if there was any sag it would be in front bs in rear. I guess they beef up the front stock suspension to compensate for the weight of the engine. Seems like they should have compensated for it slightly and lowered the stock height about 1/2" more, yea?

Mine on stock suspension with 19's (currently on 245/40 19) not crazy about the look and I'm going down to 225/35 or 30 19's. I really like the euro strech look similar to what I've got on my e28. Bad pic from my phone
