Anyone ever put b7 S4 coils on an RS4?
So I been thinking and reading some posts of other rs4 owners having bilstiens etc on their cars and was wondering if I could get a set of Pss9 or h&r for a b7 s4 on my RS4. 1) I'm a big fan of both those suspensions 2) I can save a lot of money instead of paying 2000-3500 for KW V3(what I'm going to get if not) or stasis . Whats the spring rates on KW V3 and is that the only thing that would be different? Any info help or experience would be great thanks.

I don't believe the KW V3 are that heavy spring rates..not positive tho and I'm not a fan of stasis especially not for the price, it's not like I'm trying to buy a set of vmaxx I'd be getting H&R if I could

Seeing how the S4 and RS4 share the same platform and a similar 4.2 v8 I don't see how different the spring rate could be... What are the weights of each vehicle?

June-2011 KW application guide indicates the B6/B7 S4 & B7 RS4 uses the same spring rates for the KWv3.
Front 830
Rear 470
I'm using a B7 S4 KWv3 in my B7 RS4. Works fine, although had to drill an access hole for the front to allow access to rebound adjustment, avoiding the need to remove the strut. I use a long (~9") 2mm allen to adjust the rebound valve. The rears requires removal to access the rebound valve.
To adjust compression you have to stick a small rod to turn the valve inside the casing. Seems silly, when the competition, like PSS9 or Stasis designed a knob.
This is one aspect of the Stasis MS provides easier adjustment access. Will likely change to the Stasis MS once I get the exhaust sorted out in a few months.

^ from what I remember KW spring rate cannot be compared to others since they are progressive spring.. some people have changed them to linear on some other forum. I think the SL are great value compared to the V3.. and I would not get H&R coilovers.. its garbage

H&R were always my favorite coils.. Exactly so I could use any coilover for a B7 s4 correct? same platform and engine just different built engine and different body for us with the RS4 i was always wondering why their is so few options for us.. anyone else confirm this?

^ well I really feel for you then.. youre going to replace a 6k$ factory suspension for a 1500$ coilovers ? I guess you never owned a good suspension setup before.

never said I am going to but I liked my H&R coils I had on my B6.. Im looking at KW V3 or bilstien Pss9, maybe something else if anyone recomends.. Im not going with stasis not into taking suspension out to have it rebuilt every whatever thousand miles... plus not looking to spend 3k plus on coils

I had H&R coils and hotchies S4 sway bars on my a4 in my avator pic alonng with 19x9 iforged and that car handled amazing! and rode great talk shit about H&R all you want never hear them blowing out like every stasis coil i have ever seen.. Im sure the RS4 ones are great but at a price tag of 3000-4500 they better come gold plated

don't get mad my friend.. H&R have some great product but their dampers are garbage. I got my STASIS SL for 2200$ shipped... not sure where you got your 5k.
And btw I've owned to sets of kw v3 that needed to be rebuilt after only 2 years.
Oh and if you have a problem with STASIS, just tell yourself they're ohlins dampers with eibach\hyperco springs and as for the for getting them rebuitl ? let say it cost you 400$ after 2-3 years.. that like 5 tank of gas.

audikid, don't forget about the SL's from Stasis. I think you are mixing them up with the MS system which requires rebuilds and costs a lot more. Alex at Europrice has the SL on sale, might be over soon though.

Audikid- I'm right there with you as far as STASIS goes, I was contemplating their coils for my S4 and after researching them to a great extend I have read far too many horror stories of blow shocks and horrible customer service. For those of you that have good experiences with STASIS, good for you, but I would pass.

well I was going to buy KW again because I know them but I wanted to try something different. The things I didn't like about KW was the progressive spring and the rear adjustment acces. I'm also not the type to play around with adjustments so I didn't see the point of getting them again. A lot of users are complaining about the rear springs being too soft and sagging. The V3 are probably more comfortable but I wanted a more performance oriented setup. I'm with you with STASIS.. not a big fan of the brand but the SL and the mortorsport coilovers are up there and that's what I wanted.
There is nothing wrong with the V3 and maybe if I was putting a lot of miles on my car I would have chose them again.. but I can say that the SL are the best coilovers Ive ever owned and I can't imagine how the motorsport could be better.
edit: definitely the best mod I did to my car.
