They're about an hour southeast of me. It's C-Tek Motorwerks, aka Agron. He's very very knowledgeable about the 2.7t. No corners are being cut for the build of the motor

Motor and trans came out today.

Clutch disc is no good. Wasn't expecting it as I was just going to do turbos and flywheel.

Ordered a new RS4 clutch and pressure plate to go with the TTV flywheel. Since I couldn't do anything else I cleaned up the motor a bit.

    New CHRA's.

Typical BS of what happens when you get in there.

You could never get a 6puck clutch to last 100k. Looks like some moderate wear though. What brand disc is that?

I will never buy a puck style clutch. I see failures from them left and right and apparently anything beyond 10-15k requires insane amounts of luck. I'd be going through almost 2 clutches a year.

I get it. Most likely going back to the OE RS4 clutch and pressure plate.

Had that on my K04 B5 S4. It will suit you just fine. A little stiff, but top notch stuff from Southbend. I can get an OE RS4 clutch disc and pressure plate a hell of a lot cheaper than the Southbend clutch setup.

Awesome, good to hear! I just decided to splurge and do this build to whatever capacity it takes to not lose my car for a long period of time again. My hope is that if the 2.7t ever has to be pulled again, then it's being fully built with bigger turbos. I'm banking on that being in a few years though, at least 4-6... that's a big hope though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In that time frame, I'd estimate the mileage driven to be around 40-60k. I don't plan on driving this car in the winter ever again, unless the salt is fully cleared from the roads

Maybe I don't hard enough, but I've been on the stock end links for two years at the softer setting and have had zero issues (minus losing an end link bolt that backed out after a few weeks of install). In other news I won an award yesterday at a small vw show that was mostly older air cooled cars. I won best 4 door watercooled which only had like 4 cars in that "class".

There was a few more I should've taken pics of.

And the cool hubcap award I won.

I finally got the right T fitting kit for my boost gauge pod and did the plumbing. Does anyone know off the top of their heads what wires I need to patch into on the headlight switch to get switched power? I haven't installed one in about 10 years and I forget. 😀

Easiest way would be to use an add-a-circuit/fuse tap. Just tap into something that has constant power but not something that's critical like the radio.

The kit comes with splicing connectors and the headlight switch would be the most logical place to tap into. I'm assuming the black ground wire would tap into the brown wire in the switch harness but what wire is the running lights or headlights?

Got it now. New South says blue/gray wire for hot and brown wire or chassis ground for ground.
