Traction Control and ABS Lights On

I know I should probably get the codes pulled, but don't have a VAG-COM and I'm not able to get it to a shop since I'm in the process of moving. But over the last few days the traction control light (ESP) and ABS light have come on. The first time they came on as soon as I started the car. When I started the car a few hours later, no lights. The next day, started the car and no lights, but then came on after a few minutes of driving. Now today both times I started the car, they came on right away. Has this happened to anyone? Does it mean something specific, or could it be a wide variety of issues? Hopefully I can pull some codes soon.

    Thanks!

Nick, if it'd make you feel better, I'm free at lunch and have my VAG-COM in the trunk. I'm just up the street in La Jolla.

thanks to chris for pulling the codes yesterday, it is the brake light switch. thankfully it is just a $10 part and an easy diy. however i also pulled codes for EGT's and o2 sensors...fun.

What code did you have thrown for the brake light switch if you don't mind me asking?
