Just got word from Audi that the 2013 R8 will be dropping the R-tronic tranny for the much better S-tronic...

They are also updating the grill and the headlights... it will be a refresh model, total replacement will come in 2014/15.. 1 year after the new gallardo comes out.

When are they going to show pics of the update? Wonder how many people will go for it with all the great deals on the current design.

I have an r tronic in my R8 and a dual clutch s tronic in my S4. I would not say that the s tronic is better than the r tronic. It's definitely different, but not better and not worse.

The r tronic is visceral. It's intense. The s tronic is neither. It's smooth, it's quiet.

I happen to like the r tronic in my R8. It helps make the car what it is.

    Just one person's opinion.
2009 R8 - Phantom Black, Carbon Fiber Sideblades, R tronic
2010 S4 - Ice Silver, S tronic, all the goodies

I will say, however, that i think the V8 models are still selling for high prices. V8's are IMO obsolete. I wouldnt own one over the V10. Only thing I like about the V8 Models is that I think they have nicer look than the V10's. I think the rear fascia is more pure and the 4 louver grille in front and rear instead of 3 make it more exotic

I have a 2011 S4 and I have heard about a few r-tronic imperfections for awhile and have always wondered on what that r-tronic feels like compared to the DSG in my S4. As you say, the DSG is smooth and in fact, IMO, sometimes it seems too smooth.
