It's official - 10.59s is the new record
OZ has made it again - he run 10.590 in his S4 Avant during the first series of Polish Drag Championships on Sunday the 1st. The car got a new engine, which is about 40hp stronger than last year's engine (which was no slutch either with 606 hp + 150hp shot of N2O).
GS was second in his stealth, black S4 sedan @ 10,913s.
And just to give you some perspective, the third was 949hp Supra @ 11,2xx (with LOTS of traction problems - regular tarmac, no VHT compound).
Hope to post some vids by the end of the day.
Now folks, beat that !

Hey Elberoth,
I was wondering if you might be able to help explain the following:
On Oz's 11.4 run, his posted trap speed was 136mph.
On his 10.655 run, however, his posted trap speed was only 130mph.
How do you shave EIGHT tenths off the elapsed time and do it with 6mph LESS on the trap speed?

That is simple. Our measuring system does not measure trap speed, so the figure he gave is his rough estimate ONLY.
We do not have a special Drag Racing measuring system yet, so we have to rely on a standard, FIA certified system (with opto sensors) made by TAG Heuer, which is normally used on other motorsport events. No 60ft times, no trap speeds.
FYI - 525hp Audi RS6 has run 13.209 that day.

So the trap speeds you guys submitted on the www.s4biturbo.com database are estimates only? Interesting.
Just curious, why did you estimate a 6mph slower trap speed on the 10.6 ET, which is 8 tenths quicker than the 11.4 run that has the 136mph trap speed?

Sometimes fast 1/4 mile time can cause the trap speed to be lower because you get less time to accelerate down the track. But this really depends on the acceleration curve of the car. For example if your can go from 0-90mph in a really short time but doesnt really shine from 90mph on, you will get a fast 1/4 mile but ur trap time might not be as great. This explains why some evos and stis can have such great 1/4 times but not so great trap speed. On the other hand if you have like a high hp supra and you have traction problem, your 0-90 time might not be as fast, but since the car really shine in the top end, it will have a high trap speed even though the 1/4 mile time might not be that great. This explains why a lot of high hp supras have trouble getting into 10s and yet have amazing trap speed. That could be the reason why the estimated the trap speed to be lower.

You're comparing apples to oranges though. We're talking about the same exact car running 7 tenths QUICKER in the 1/4 mile but 6mph slower on the trap speed. Can you come up with any examples even remotely close to that? And I'm not talking about a 7 second dragster running a 10 second pass @ 80mph because he broke something and coasted down half the track. Clearly these are some of "VTG Killer's" best times, so we can rule out that theory.
It doesn't make any sense: 11.4 @ 136 but 10.6 @ 130 in the same car? Obviously, the trap speeds are nowhere near accurate since they're "estimates." I'm just trying to figure out how they arrive at these "estimates" and why on god's green earth did they estimate the trap speed to be 6mph slower on the 10.6 pass ** the run that was 8 tenths quicker than the 11.4!

11secS4 - relax, we do not really care for the trap speeds here and we do nat make any claims about it ... only 1/4 time is what matters for us (since what is the only parameter we can accurately measure).
OZ could have equally well made a mistake, and in fact the trap speed was higher (or lower the last time). Bare in mind that OZ has to read it from the tacho DURING THE RACE, when he has simply TONS of other things to do !
As for the video - I'm still looking for a server which is not overloaded. Quite simply, everyone here in Poland wants to download this vid right now !
So stay tuned.

Well, OZ has build a new, stronger engine. The old one, which developed 606 hp on race fuel (and that was with no N2O), found his new home in this black S4.

It's the same car except for the fact that it has a completely different engine in it. Read his original post, "The car got a new engine, which is about 40hp stronger than last year's engine (which was no slutch either with 606 hp + 150hp shot of N2O). "

11SecS4 - IMO, you are way to caught up in 1/4 mile times.
I have seen you on multiple automotive forums exacerbating on such topics. I think you have an impressive car but, you are not the only one in the 11s category in an S4 and certainly evertime someone comes out faster than you it is not necessary to pick it apart....relax man.
Elberoth -
Who built your motor? What pistons, rods, fasteners did you use? I ask because I am embarking on a engine build of my own and would like some feedback....thanks ahead of time.
Bravo on the performance and S4 performance progression!
