Installed RNS-E from Symph 2+ on B7 S4 but FM reception is really bad now!!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have read about the issues about going from the 2+ to RNS-E and how FM reception can suffer but this is ridiculous.
Local radio stations that I like to listen to are constantly fuzzy and annoying to listen to.
I read the 12 page discussion on audiforum.us http://audiforum.us/threads/converti...-12#post-95607 but am still confused and looking for a relatively simple way to get my reception back.

Has anyone acutally fixed this problem without changing their antenna AND rear glass?

Guys, this issue has gotten worse. One of my favourite radio stations that is local to me is completely gone sometimes.
    Any updates or thoughts?

this would be good to be able to solve, as I'm looking to go to RNS-E but don't want to lose radio quality.

Just to update, based on my research I have ordered a used Audi Antenna Booster from a B6 (part # 8E9035225P or Q) on ebay for $50 shipping included.

    This might do the trick.

Once it arrives and is installed I will report back..... fingers crossed!

Okay so great news for anyone that might be in the same boat.
The antenna booster arrived and I installed it (pretty simple based on the link from audiforum.us) and I can honestly say that reception is dramatically improved.
I don't think it is perfect but I'd say 90% and that's good enough for me... especially for such an inexpensive fix if you find a used "P" model on ebay or wherever.

    Frustration = Over

Well I guess I spoke to soon.
After further testing it seems my reception is really not that much better.
It might be because as I was installing it I broke one of the 3 wires that attaches to the side window antennas.
I took the car to an auto glass repair shop and he soldered the wire back but he did not guarantee it would be perfect.
    Oh well.

start ordering and check which one works

    8E9 035 225 Q

    8E9 035 225 P

    8E9 035 225 AF (model PR-9M0, 9M1)

8E9 035 225 AG with auxiliary heater and remote control (PR-9M9)

Find some one that has the same North America RNSE and do the test then you know if unit is faulty

I thought I would add my $0.02 here. On my 2003 S6 after my RNS-E install, I did notice a decrease in quality for my AM reception. FM was always fine but not as strong as our other vehicle.

I too thought about replacing the booster but the cost and time really didn't appeal to me.

I then had some roof rust fixed by Audi under the corrosion warranty and I was told they had to remove the headliner which was a pain. After I got the car back reception was perfect for AM. I was picking up stations in my underground parking that I couldn't even get outside and the static was almost non existent.

My suspicion was that there was a connection loose that was fixed during the reconnection. I wish you the best.
