Does anyone know if you can swap the casing from a stock headlight to an E-Code. I know I'd have to heat it up to separate everything. It's had broken tabs on top and now I dropped it and broke one on the bottom.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SEPARATE THE HOUSING.

Ask me how I know that it's a bad idea.

I've attempted this before with a NOS Valeo Ecode housing. The plastic used for the housing is too soft and does not deal well with heat. Even trying to use a heat gun to heat up only the sealed edges was near impossible without deforming or damaging the actual housing.

For anyone wanting to know how to wire the resistor here's a quick wiring diagram for the highbeams...

I was able to install my Mini H1s into B6 A4 Valeo H7 Halogen housings. The screw holes all line up with the template. Since these are Valeo housings it would probably be best to use the lower template, I started with the first template and trimmed what I needed to make it fit better. (Wanted to keep as much material as possible while fitting) Pretty easy to get in and out of the B6 housing. Installing the damn TSX lens was a pain when I did it for the B5.

Anyone know what size the screws are that attach the OEM Valeo projector to Valeo housings? I'm missing all 3 for one side. My local Ace Hardware couldn't help me out, not even what pitch it is.
    It's a T-type self tapping screw
    Length is 20mm

And these do not appear to be in etka

According to my measurements it's M4-1.0x20mm but the threads don't match up perfectly to my gauge. They do however match up to a 20TPI in standard measurement. I'm confused by this screw.

I've noticed that I am going to need a thread cutting screw that it slightly shorter in order to get the projector mount to be secure in the housing.

Okay, so to follow up on that self tapping screw. I'm almost positive that it's a #8-24 x 3/4". That being the case, that's a very odd size for a screw and I can't seem to find anything to replace them

I couldn't find an #8-24 x 3/4" Type 23 thread cutting screw anywhere either. So I ended up using an #8-18 x 3/4 Sheet metal screw. That's the exact screw I pulled out of a 99.5 A4 housing at the wrecking yard. Don't seem to have any problems holding the projector assembly in there.

As for refastening it, I can't guarantee it will hold as well the more you fasten and unfasten it. I don't plan on pulling these out so I won't have that problem.

So I finally got these installed and I must say, this is one of the best modification that I've done to any car I've owned. The difference between OEM high beams v. the Morimoto Mini H1 Bi-xenon is no comparison. The amount of light that my headlights now produce is crazy. I am beyond happy.

Regarding the thread cutting screws from my posts above: I thought that I would need shorter thread cutting screws to mount the projector bracket because they were bottoming out and not holding the bracket down. This was not an issue, I was simply able to torque the screws down the few more MM that they needed to go after bottoming out.

I am having an issue (which I had before) with the DS light flickering when I switch to highbeams. Sometimes it keeps flickering until I turn the highbeams off and I can then switch them back on and they function normally. Other times they will flicker for a second and then stay on. I'm not sure that the issue is but one would assume it's the ballast. Problem is, I've swapped ballasts as well as tried a different set and still had the same problem. The wiring has all been gone through to check for defects and I couldn't find any. Any thoughts?

I retrofitted some DEPO D2S projectors into some DEPO H7 black housings.
The mounting points are the same except 2 mounting point are common and the third one is on the opposite side, so I made a small bracket to take benefit of this mounting point. I also put an additional nut on each mounting point before fitting the projector, otherwise the DEPO D2S proj hits the housing (but it works also, I just wanted to have no contact between the lens and the housing.
DEPO D2S proj. and DEPO H7 proj. are not the same:
_the H7 lens is thicker (light more focused in the center) than the D2S lens (light more spread all over the place), both are clear.
_the bowls are the same except the socket at the back.
_the dimensions of both are the same

I attached 55W ballasts and 85122+ bulbs. Light output is good, very sharp cutoff (better than valeo) with a tint of purple.
Seems the DEPO headlights have the projectors not perfectly aligned on an horizontal axis once they are installed in the car, they are more in a 8:20 (driver-passenger) o'clock axis than a 9:15 axis, so I got the same effect than shown in this post:

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...=1#post6246498

When light is projected on the wall: the both cutoffs are not perfectly straight, one compared to the other. The passenger side should go higher than the driver side for E-codes.
    Position lights are T10/194 bulbs.

    Will post some pics tonight.

    1) Are you sure it's the bulb that flickers and not the the high beam/low beam shield not keeping its position in high beam !? I remember it's motioned by a solenoid (like an electronic relay) and I suggested the trick of putting a resistor in parallel, maybe the value is not enough. 10 Ohms / 2W (power resistor) should be ok. I noticed my S4 has a bulb out check for the headlight.
    2) Swap the bulbs, usually ballast and bulb make a couple.

I've actually already been through most of the troubleshooting.

It isn't related to the bixenon retro-fit, it just bothers me more now.

I just fitted the Mini H1s to my 01 A4 and whenever I switch off the high beams, all of my interior lights and cluster go out, and then turn back on. If, I just flash the high beams, it will not do it. I wired the factory high beam to the shutter only, and deleted the factory bulb. Any ideas as to what can cause this?

Mine does the same thing, I am waiting for some diodes to come in that I will wire inline of the power wire, it prevents the power surge back to the cluster.

anyone had a issue with the projector not lining up in the headlight housing correctly? havent really messed with it much but i cut my templates and installed the projector and when i look at the projector its kinda off? wondering if maybe my holes didnt line up correctly? I have extra plexi so i may just make 2 more just to try it out but heres a pic of the headlight to give u a idea
Can anyone notice a gap at the bottom of my projector? Maybe its just me just a little OCD bout making sure it looks right!

Are you sure it's a physical gap and not what appears to be one due to the lens holder in the new projector being black?

waiting on my bulbs.. should be next couple days, doing some shield modding, and then installing these should be done this coming weekend. then thinking of sticking the stock projectors into the foglights with some shield modding for wider beam.
