Wish me luck on the build...

    Franken turbos

    Vast inlets

Where are all the FT A6's?!

    :]

EDIT: I got 2 drivers side inlets, doug sent me a set of new FrankenLets that are MUCH bigger, comparible to TiAl & the samco hoses are too small for them!

Good luck with the install. Ive had the Franken F4HL on my 98 A4 for a year and no problems, other than a slipping clutch, which my new one will be here tomorrow.

Let us know how they perform. I am curious myself on the top end power these turbos are able to handle. I cannot seem to find any specs on the turbine A/R? The wheel sizes appear to suggest they can hold some moddest power.

Any reason you decided against the FT inlets?

Doug (from FT) offered me VAST inlets over his previous versions because these are beefier apparently. Also, your name kinda reminds me of the challenge I had the other day. Didn't know what to classify my vehicle under.

That guy with the green A6 has FTs too. Theres several going around, the A6 guys don't do build threads for smaller builds like the S4 guys do. S4 guys start build threads for stage 2 cars lol.

Hilarious! Although I didnt really mean to make this a build thread. Was just kind of excited to get these....and my girlfriend doesnt understand, which is why I post here!

    Also....

Heres a pic of the "SSAC" downpipes. They ARE XSPOWER downpipes to clear any confusion, I know there is some debate going around. These DP's seem of good quality, welds are nice. I'm glad I bought these over APR, the money is well spent.

Their 3" that turn into 2.5. I'm pretty sure it costed me $320 or so shipped to my door, the best part...

Edit: without cats its even cheaper.

Look how fast that shipped from china.

good luck aysix! you'll need to get some more piping welded onto the one mid pip after the cat since those are made for the s4 which has differnet length mid pipes. the a6 has equal length pipes. let us know how they turn out and if all that is needed is a bit more piping.

    Waterpump
    Valve cover gasket set
    Engine oil

    OEM Tranny Mounts
    Redline RT-90 Tranny fluid

Any other maintnence parts I'm missing?

I'll suggest as I did the same mistake:

    1) do not use Redline crap. Use OEM fluid.
    2) skip oem tranny mounts. They move way to much under so much more torque. I am running 034 street ones and they are great for stage 3
    3) get some intercoolers. Look for used AWEs. The usually fairly cheap and big improvement over stock ones.

If you want a pair of practically new stockers though I can sell you my set :)

These are all items that already shipped to my door step. If you feel that OEM tranny mounts are a no go, I can probably send them back, and as for the tranny fluid....shit, well...I'd like more input from other people on this aswell.

edit: for the intercoolers, i have already planned on ER sidemounts.

the car may be under the knife this week! Any input on the RT-90 tranny fluid? If its crap I would rather not regret it.

    I agree with these

I picked up Fuchs tranny fluid from Scotty@advanced for pretty cheap. Its what he uses and he steered me away from Reline and Royal Purple.
OEM tranny mounts are pretty mushy, you'll end up needing to replace them if you drive your stage 3 aggressively.
And you've already mentioned ER's, those are the best option

Guys, I've got the rest of the items in & its going to be getting worked on this weekend! I'm staying with the OEM tranny mounts and staying stage 3- for a couple weeks or so untill the 034's come in (EDIT, USING RS4 MOUNTS!) and get Jfonz to tune my car. I'm hoping for around 460whp with meth by mid spring!

Okay, needed a new flywheel (which i'm getting tomorrow) and I need new EGT sensors. Although...what are your views on coding the EGT's out? Safe? Unsafe? Another 400 bucks is kinda crappy! Views anyone?

Plenty of guys run without the EGTs. Personally I'd never get rid of them. That's valuable tuning info to me. A lot can be told about how hot the exhaust is at full load

For the pumps, their web looks incorrect. The top appears to be a direct high flow unit and the cheaper lower link looks like a universal option.

Update, I got two drivers side inlets!!!!!! Luckily doug from FT is really hooking me up, his customer service is awesome when it comes to annoying people like me!

    Also bought the following:

    -EV14 60lb injectors
    -DW 300lph pump
    -Silicon hoses/couplers for the MAF
    -JHM FMIC

Trying to order an 85mm maf housing from 034 but it won't let me picka shipping opion.

Just get meth/alc injection, or maybe make a shroud to force more air at the FMIC to lower IAT's.. I would definitely do those things way before I would hack up the bumper.. In the A6 the top of the FMIC core still gets air pretty well compared to the B5. It will do even better if you put a shroud at the top..

I'm already running meth, however not tuned on it, more of knock suppression at the moment. I have spare bumpers laying around for the front, so i dont mind cutting them up i need a fronttrak rear bumper for 2000 however with the single exhaust cut out in the bumper, in silver would ideal but ive had issues finding one.

I'm also not a big fan of how the intercooler looks at the moment I'd like to be able to have it all visible and see how the front end looks. I've driven the car a lot without the bumper on so i dont really mind

Meth and FMIC should be plenty low IAT's. I always log very cool IAT. Even when its warm, I am usually at or below ambient temp.

Very good info! I'm going to see if I like it without cutting the bumper first, worse case senario...I get a new bumper, which has a nice gouge where I would be cutting it anyways.

I just think the look of a cut bumper is Ricey. Just my opinion, but especially on an A6 its just wrong lol.. The core will see plenty of air. I made a shroud for the top of mine that helped force more air at the core.

Did you happen to modify anything to have the FMIC fit? Also, what did you use to make the shroud?
