    01 2.7t H&R race springs and stock shocks...HELP

    i need some help. I have h&R race springs on stock shocks that are pretty much shot..no i feel like it may be riding on the bumpstops..no sure?? but thats what it feels like maybe...

    is this possible? if so could i just cut down the bumpstops? not really looking to buy new shocks right now bc im not sure im keeping the car

    The shocks aren't what keep the car up. The springs keep the car up, the shocks just limit the rate at which the car will go down/up on the springs. If your shocks are shot, cutting the bump stops will only make the bottoming out feel more drastic

    gotcha...but considering my current set up and condition of shocks is it possible im riding with it bottomed out? if so how bad is that and can it ruin anything else??

    Well if you have no intentions of removing the springs, then I guess my suggestion of some cheap oem shocks as a replacement is out of the question. (I've seen sport shocks go for the $200 range)

    riding od bad shocks will f your tires up really fast

    The race spring is fairly low. You have to cut short the stock bumpstops otherwise you don't have much room.

    also leaving it as is with or without cut bumpstops..could this ruin anything else besides wear my tires down?

    we put h&r race on the a6, didnt have to cut shit and no problems what so ever.

    I just put the race springs on my 01 A6 with the stock non-sport shocks.

    No problems here. Still a pretty good ride also, better than my girlfriends Altima still.

    hmm so similar to mine...i guess ill just leave it alone for now..i was just worried it was riding on the bumpstops and it was putting stress on the strut towers
