Who should I talk to about engine swaps in the B6 platform? Specifically ecu oriented questions?

My options as to what will and won't work in the car if the stock ecu is removed, and what can be run with a stand alone. Whether I can or cannot run 2 ecu's, a gm ecu for the gm swap motor and leave the stock ecu for the rest of the car. Who could wire it and how much would it cost. I'm not concerned about gauges but I do want the airbags, abs, climate control to work. I know very little about the bosch ecus I've only really worked with Denso units before so I don't know where to even begin. I've been poking around in the A4 forums, looks like there is a fair amount of swapping going on there, don't know how relevant that is.

He finally wrapping up his LS swap into a C5 RS6. He kept the Audi accessories (AC, powersteering, TCU) to keep the cluster happy and ran the GM ECU for the engine only. As a heads up though, he barely made that motor to fit into a a RS6, so imagine how much room you've got to work with in the B6. He's said that as far as ease of installation goes, a D2 A/S8 would probably be easiest to do the swap with because it's got even more room in the bay vs the C5 A6 chassis

Yeah people often jump to say, "why don't you just get an XX engine and throw it in there, that'd be awesome, you'd make crazy power yo!". Well it's a lot more complicated than just "throwing it in there" the actual work that goes into making things not only fit but actually work are much more complicated. Same goes for the guy putting the RS6 Timing Belt 4.2 TT into a B7 RS4. I wish more could be seen of that build besides the 4-6 pictures from that one magazine article about it.Cutting frame rails for more space is going much further than just "throwing it in there"

I have a used Lq4 from my dads wrecked silverado. There's something wrong with my timing system so when I pull my motor I can compare the two better, if it's close size wise I'm gonna get more serious about this. I found a guy that makes an adapter plate for the 01e to LS with a flywheel and clutch for $1400, don't think it would be too much harder to make one for the 0a3. If it looks like too much cutting, hammering and welding then I'll look at other options. The fact is though that I have a 170k motor, even if I overhaul the timing system for $3000 I will still have a 170k motor with heads that cost over 4 g's a piece and a short block that is expensive to rebuild (Jhm charges 8000 for their base rebuild). That's quite a large incentive for me to get this done.

*P.S. backing my car into the garage tonight I rolled over a jug of used oil and sprayed it everywhere! :(
