    Yesterday was my first time...

    Seeing my turbo glowing after goofing around on the drive home. I was very excited. Of course I jumped back in the car and started her up again to let it cool off at idle. Don't need any oil deposits choking up my badass K03!

    No I know. I actually was checking the SJP stuff I had installed the day before and hadn't expected my turbo to be hot at all. I was just listening to my turbo spool coming up the hill to my house. Never even got close to redline, or above 35mph. Didn't think i was pushing the turbo that much tbh.

    A good little reminder to take it easier on my turbo nevertheless.

    Didn't think it deserved a whale face though...

    I've thought about turbo timers but I would rather just adjust my driving habits. I've usually been pretty good about letting my turbo cool down, but I was just dicking around getting on boost then listening to my DV honk as it fails to properly divert the airflow, since it has a small leak. Also I was driving up a hill while doing it. Guess I was working the turbo harder than I thought.

    And yea it was kind of sweet. I've driven plenty of turbo cars, but never seen a glowing turbo.

    I realize I sound like a dumb High School kid with this thread but I don't care! Its just nice that my anemic stage 1 1.8t can still make me smile.

    Just find a hill, keep the revs in the "sweet spot" (2500-3000 rpms) and just floor it until the turbo fully spools up then let off. Rinse repeat. End result, glowing turbo...
