Anyone here running standalone EMS's???

Let me know what you are running and just leave some suggestions, I would like to get a order in by next week I have been without a car for toooooooo long.

is your fpr installed correctly? isnt it supposed to go on the return side?

pretty sure its good.

Fuel in: going strait to rail and then AFPR connected to rail.
Fuel return: out bottom of AFPR going back to tank

I'm actually running the same EMS system JK35 had on his car. The EMS-4 gave us one too many problems.

what are the differences between the AEM EMS and the EMS-4? What problems did you guys have? I was just looking into that EMS-4.

oh and what are you guys doing for spark on AEM, stock coils, 2.0 coils, or strait plugs?

Main issue was cold starts. No matter what he did, it just wouldn't crank over at 40 degrees. It fires right up no problem at 60 degree all day long. The EMS-4 is the basic EMS system that AEM has. It is truely made to run small displacement nitrous cars or turbo bikes. They have limited outputs and can't handle the german engineering that Audi has to offer. I bought Kyle's system from him and it was plug and play (since I bought his turbo, fmic, plumbing, bov, wg, tubular mani, exhaust, dp .. ect.). There just are too many outputs for the system to handle. I believe it is $2000 for the universal system and it will do everything. I'm sure you can get by with any other ems but thats just my experiece so far. I am having my car shipped up next week, hopefully.

yea the AEM Universal is super expensive.. I hope I can find a deal on one somewhere if I go AEM.

yea the car ran great on lugtronic, it was a little rich because I had 91 in my tank and rob is setup for e85 but it was running/driving fine.

I would be willing to go lugtronic but its so hard to find them for sale, and Kevin Black is kinda hard to keep in touch with. I'v been playing email tag with him and it looks like he would have to build me a box from scratch for the AEB, I guess he is not building them commercially anymore.

Serkan(prodrive on AZ) runs an autronic SM2. I think he makes 525whp on a GT30R HTA or GT35R HTA...I cant remember.

I googled AEM Universal EMS and I got one that was for sale for $1500 on NAOSIC (something like that). Not sure if its still available but that would be a good choice if you ran AEM.

Doesn't really matter which end of the fuel rail you put the FPR. Most people put the feed line to the back of the rail and then a line that goes from the front of the rail to the FPR. But looks like he did it the other way so he could actually mount the FPR right into the rail.

Awesome, wish he told me about this - wtf. I would have just went with Lugtronics or Haltech.

Hopefully Chris Miller at ForceFed will be able to sort it out.

VICEPRP: Ive been trying to get a hold of JK35. I didnt know he sold his whole setup, I really wanted to get him to make a harness for me. You still talk to him? He had sold me on that system last year but money was being bothersome.

To the OP. If you are interested in the 30-1900U AEM, Vivid Racing sells sells them for 1800 and Im sure they would negotiate a cheaper price if you just ask, they might have some lying around that they are trying to get rid of. Or PM me as I found a reliable shop selling off the last couple units for 1500 with the flying harness.

Yeah it was fun watching one of those huge whp TT Lambos trapping 130's in the 1/4 mile on the show Pass Time. lol

Yeah, that's his car but seems like pre AEM install. He had AGU vc with pencil coils.

Go with what your tuner recommends and is comfortable with.
I see you're pretty close to Rob with the Lugtronic, probably the best option for you. The ECU is probably something else rebadged and he just makes a harness for it. Did you happen to see the software Rob runs?

If I was in the same boat, Haltech or Vipec. They're probably the most user friendly ones.

I was talking about a different one which was a different color. On the pass time show it raced against a UGR twin turbo Viper, IIRC the owner of UGR was driving the Lambo. It was the episode that was nothing but UGR cars. That episode was from 2009, there is a listing for it on youtube but looks like Pass Time had it removed.

i have this exact setup in my car and love it. the one thing i would order is the usm module from racepak so you can run your fuel level off the racepak, the usm module will also give you 3 extra inputs that you can read off the display unit.
