    Exhaust comparison (DSG vs. Tiptronic)

Well for a while now I've noticed that many of the new dual clutch equipped car's make a "fart" sound if you will, whenever they shift gears. And i guess i kinda like the sound because it's better than having a lame auto exhaust note. But from what I understand only DSG (dual clutch) car's make that sound. However now Im seeing video's of the b8 a4 6at (tiptronic) making that same sound....

Is it that all tiptronic's make that sound, but just that you need the right exhaust to get the noise? If anyone know's too how that sound is produced, I'd love to know...

    I found some vid's too...

What a gti DSG sounds like for reference

Its the Ecu retarding timing to shift i think. I hear it with mine a little bit not as pronounced as that.

dont quote me but im pretty sure its a drop of fuel that gets burned in the exhaust when it shifts. At least thats what Clarkson said, lol

Clarkson said that about the RS5, not the A4...

DSGs are technically manual transmissions. They have a tendency to sound more like manuals. Some models even rev match on downshifts.
