So I swapped my pre-cat O2 sensors this last weekend because I was getting codes p1136, and 1138 and 1639. Now I know 1639 is the throttle position sensor but hold that thought. Now I swapped my sensors out and went ahead and got the codes re read right after I switched them and pulled only 2 codes P0102 and P1131 so 0102 is a MAF code from what I gather but could also be a large vacuum leak, and 1131 is a Pre-cat bank 1 failure code I think. So I had them cleared thinking that it was possibly just a residual code I missed from before I swapped the sensors so I cleared them both to see if they came back. I was driving around and decided to get some gas (gas is expensive right now so I've been running 87 or 89 for the last month). I'm not chipped, but after spending my 60$ to fill the tank I start it up and am instantly greeted by my ABS, ESP, and a lovely CEL. That was 2 days ago haven't had a chance to look any deeper yet primarily because I bought my fiancé a new Volvo and have been playing with that. But tonight I'm going to pull the codes on the Audi and find out what the heck is going on and how much more $$ I can throw at it before the boss lets me go stage 3 :). But I was just seeing if you guys knew where I could start or what I might have done to get the dash lights to greet my wallet with such a warm hug. I'll post what codes I pull after work. O and I used Bosch 15733 universals for the precat sensors.

sounds like user error.

Eww. I skimmed more of that god awful post and I wish I could slap him.

Ok, not to be annoying if this is something you already checked, but is there any chance that you didn't tighten down the gas cap enough when you filled it? This could throw the CEL on. I don't have much more insight, but that's certainly intimidating :( Very curious to hear what codes come up now . . .
K so I tore into it last night after getting another p0102 code pulled and started at the MAF discOnnected from the air box and y pipe I went to look at it and the sensor connector came off Turns out my MAF I ordered from a local indie shop came in and I didn't notice the pin that holds the connector on was faulty looks sheared so the connector worked its way off Pulled my old MAF and put it on and I'm code free for the time being getting a replacement MAF from said indie shop in a few days

I'm surprised how you fit 3 periods into that paragraph. I got a headache just reading it, hopefully it's just the MAF and you don't have to write another paragraph.
K since I obviously don't know how to punctuate a sentence properly I will remove all punctuation and place it at the end of my posts to be distributed to the proper place by someone smarter than me use the commas sparingly I'm only leaving 2 I apologize for any head explosions this may cause
....... ,, ! ??
Please return any unused punctuation so I may use it in my upcoming posts

GREAT REPLY
Where did you order the sensors and are they mounted up properly?
Is where I purchased them and they are universals so there is a little modifying but not much. You have to cut your old sensors connectors off and splice the old o2 sensor connectors to the new sensors. It's very easy and straight forward and as long as you have the proper tools it's not a hard swap. Maybe an hour to an hour and a half. I'll post a pic of my splice after work.
Usually I put 91 In the tank but since the recent hike in gas prices I've had some other $ problems that forced me to downgrade for the time being.
The cost difference between a full tank of 87 and a full tank of 93 octane is about 6 bucks. Might want to reconsider your mode of transportation if you can't afford to fuel the beast.
Don't have 93 near me only 91 and doing the math that's right and now I feel like a douche. Seems like a bigger number when you look at it without math.
Ok so the cel popped back on last night with an 0431, 0421, 1136, and 1138. Could I have replaced my o2 sensors for nothing other than piece of mind, and my problem is elsewhere? Maybe I didn't tighten the sensors down enough? Or could I just have both my cats failing.
yeah. I hate those fucking splice kits. They're a bitch (to me anyway). And seems like the connections inside aren't really reliable.
I've used them and then had to go back and replace with wire-nut connectors. A little silicone and tape and they're as waterproof as anything. Problem is you won't know if they're the problem until you take it apart and re-splice the whole thing.
I'm actually thinking about doing that since I'm pulling 1136 1138 0431 and 0421 now after new sensors. I was wondering how reliable they were going to be, I'll try wire nuts and some silicone and see how well that works. If the codes go away I'll be happy.
I've never been a fan of using wire nuts in anything automotive. For weather proof connectors I've always had good luck with Weatherpack connectors. A little spendy but work great. I have them on the HID ballasts that are spliced into my Corrado fogs.
I was actually thinking of keeping the black protector on there pumping the open ends with silicone and using butt connectors to connect the wiring then using more silicone to seal the opposing side. Either way I'll figure something out
