Lightbulb A4 Front License Plate Bracket Crazy $$, can i use a VW?

Dealership wants to charge me $150 just for the front license plate bracket I need installed. I'm from NC, and moved to a state that required front license plates, thus i need the bracket installed (and holes drilled). I'm wondering since VW makes Audi, why not pay 30 bucks for a new Passat/Jetta front license plate bracket and stick it on my 2003 audi a4 b6? Honestly, it's just gonna hold up the license plate, and I'm seeing if anyone knows if it will fit/if there is any reason why I'd need to buy the expensive dealer front license bracket?

You don't need to drill into the bumper and ruin it. You can get something like the Skid Plate offered by Podi...

It screws into the front tow hook receiver. I know they're on backorder over at Podi, but you might be able to find something similar.

velcro and tape seems like it'd strip the paint. I dont like the side mount of a podi skid plate, i like the symmetry of having the plate in the middle. Think i will go with OEM front bracket and drill holes, when it comes time to move to a state that doesnt require fronts i'll put a swanky silver audi plate on the front to spice things up :)

Someone used the braille method for parking and crushed mine recently. Thankfully my bumper is not damaged but I'd love to see his rear bumper, hehe.
