    Head Gasket Blown

Has anyone ever heard of a head gasket being blown at 78k miles for an 01' S4? Seems a bit early for that to happen. I am looking into getting this car. It now has 108k miles and hasn't had a problem since. Should this still be something to be concerned about?

I wouldn't be worried if the work was done by a reputable shop and the work was all documented.

do you think its blown hg or is the coolant just brown? depending on the situation it could be a bad oil cooler if you see oil in the coolant.

Turns out this car has turbos that whine really loud. I definitly am not going to get it. Sounds like too much of money pit.

There is another thread about the same car from today as well. :)

Head gaskets are probably fine, either the oil cooler if there is oil in the coolant or they mixed coolants to make it brown. The other thing couldd be the turbos have a seal that is mixing oil and coolant I suppose.

+1, the head gaskets on our cars are pretty beefy. Something like oil in the coolant/vice-versa is more likely to be something like a failing oil cooler.

Very unlikely the head gasket went at that mileage. Unless the previous owner was overheating the shit out of the engine.
