    Angry ECS Tuning Scan tool

Ok so I finally got my ECS100 scan tool, fuck I hate UPS and will try very hard to never use them again! Anyways I go to hook it up to my 2003 S6 and the way the plastic is molded at the diagnostic end of cable will not allow me to freely hookup to 16pin connector. I was very leery of trying to force it on and cant see anyway that it will hookup smoothly without damaging something or me trimming the plastic off the end. Phoned ECS and all I got for an answer was "there all like that just force it on". Anyone else using this scan tool and what are your thoughts on this problem. I live in Canada and am not thrilled about the idea of going through the hassle to return it.

Your socket might not be aligned properly in the access opening. Does it look centered and secure?

If you are that worried, you can remove the knee bolster (few screws underneath, two screws under the steering trim, and a screw behind the fuse access panel) and the connector will hang freely, allowing you get at it better.

It shouldn't take THAT much force.

Every single OBD II car has the exact same diagnostic port. They can be a pain to plug in the cable. I have just a basic OBD II scanner I got at autozone and I've spent up to 5-10 minutes just fiddling around with it trying to get it to plug in. I literally would have to get out of my car, push the seat all the way back, lay on my back in the foot well, look at both the cable connection, just to get it to plug in..

Other times I can sit in my seat and reach down and plug it in in 2 seconds.

    Good luck!

    Jason
