    Screw in tire

On the way home from work I noticed I had a screw in my drivers side front tire.

What do you guys think, can i plug this or should i just get a new tire. Tires only have about 5k on them. If i didnt drive like a bat out of hell i would just plug it, but im not sure if that would hold. This is luckily the first time in like 12 years ive had an issue like this.

Also, I put my spare on. I have clients in and have to drive them around for the remainder of the week. The spare is a different tire and brand new, will I cause any problems by driving on this until saturday.

...and yes my tire is in my kitchen

No need to replace that tire. It can very easily be plugged.

Stuff like this is precisely why I always get the repair/replacement certificates on all my tires.

Plug it - tire shops usually charge like $20 to fix this. They will tell you if it is not safe to keep.

You can plug it or you can have it patched. Patching it will be more expensive since they will have to take the tire off the rim then mounted/balance it again.

It's in the tread block so you should be good. I've plugged numerous tires myself and never had any problems with them. Ran them all down to the wear bars with no issues. I used the kits you can pick up at the auto parts store. You could take it to a tire shop and have them do it but it's a pretty simple procedure and their procedure is similar to what you would do yourself with one of those kits.

Appreciate the feedback everyone. I took the screw out this morning and it didn't even go through the entire tire. It did go in a good qtr of an inch. Now should I push it through and patch it or just let it ride. I have a patch kit I got at the auto parts store for my tractor tire.

I've had a few do that and I went ahead and plugged it for peace of mind. If it was just a very short screw that got stuck in the tread block I would just leave it alone though.

Push through and patch. You want to build the integrity of the tire back up. As it stands now, you have only a little bit of rubber covering you from a blowout occurring. If you push through and patch, the sticky adhesive rubber will fill the hole and you won't be running around with only a few millimeters of rubber between your air and the ground.
