- No add oil.
- good mix of city and highway driving - probably as close to 50/50 as you can get.
- changed right after cold start (2 actually - <1mi. to store, <1mi. home)
That's good info considering I'm running the same oil. I think I'll keep my oil changes to about 6k though as that results in almost a 1 year interval between changes.
I'm also running that oil. I sent the oil from my junkyard engine to Blackstone and the report was very grim lol. I hope after a cycle of Rotella the report comes back more like yours!
About the 7k mile OCI:
7,000 is not what i normally run. I usually pull the plug at 5k on the 2.7 and 1.8...
I had a very busy holiday and had no time to get it changed. I spent a lot of time in the hospital with my daughter as well as traveling to and from, changing my oil was just not at the top of the priority list.
(I also had faith I was running a decent oil)

meaning you sent the oil that was in it? or you ran some Rotella through it and they came back grim?

I got the motor/trans as a whole unit. So once the motor was in, we turned it over and made the first drive with whatever was in the motor. Changed the oil the next day and sent the junkyard oil in. I'll upload my report in a second, show you what they said. Its terrible compared to yours.
Glad I chose to start running T6 though, heard nothing but good things thus far and your report is very uplifting lol.
LOL... Just reread mind, he ended it with, "Caution." I'll be doing my FIRST oil change since this (which will be at roughly 5k of use) within a week or two, and i'll send this oil off. It will be nice to see what improved since this. They were able to tell the viscosity of the oil, which was 5-30, so it was probably something basic and not proper for this engine to begin with.
Nice to see that, Ive been running Rotella T6 in my allroad as well, changed every 5k. Seems pretty good for what it costs.
How many miles are on your engine?
$25 (they ship the collection kit to you for free)
+$10 if you want a TBN.
you only really need a TBN if you are trying to stretch your oil change interval or if you switched to a new type of oil and you want to see if it survived the run.

For anyone curious, I added a link to the bottom of the original post that does a good job explaining what all the chemicals/numbers/metals/etc. mean and what to take from the data.

Wow. That's great, John. Been running this in my 1.8T for about 4 intervals now. I change it at 3k-ish. I'd like to see a report from a 1.8T at 5k+. Maybe that report should be mine...

It should!
I actually have some brewing in Nat's 1.8t right now, I'm going to change it at 5k miles and send in a sample.
