That looks like a sheared shock strut to me. If that's the case, I think a phone call to the maker is in order as that should qualify as a defect unless you were out running the baja 500.
And its sheared off low enough to suggest he definitely had that top nut all the way on correctly.
Thats unfortunate Dre. Someone somewhere owes you some good luck BIG time. You've been getting kicked for a little too long, EGT issue, misfires, brakes, now this!
Yup. I have no idea how it happened. I had the coil overs installed for 2-4 weeks just fine then started to develop a constant squeak. I was going to switch the rear coils left to right today to see if I could isolate the issue, then I discovered the sheared shaft.
I probably used an air impact to tighten the shock nut as its tricky without one, but with the shock shaft spinning I can't imagine getting enough torque to do any damage.
Pm'd ami. I'll update this in the morning. If nothing happens with them, I'll trying emailing the manufacturer directly. Unfortunately I expect to be SOL considering I'm not the original purchaser.

I installed 4 different C5 suspensions this exact same way without issue. I hope they offer to rebuild them for you or at least work with you.
Glen@ami said that I have no warranty since I didn't purchase them originally.
If there was a way to get a hold of the original owner he might have been able to get them for you...
When I sold Vin my coilovers I told him if they ever have any problems to call me and I could contact H&R and get new ones for him since I was the original owner

I would love to, but I can't justify them, especially considering that I just bought those st's a couple months ago and I'm trying to save for a house.
At least on the plus side, I got my brakes to stop squeaking this morning.
Wtf! Given the title of this thread, let me ask you this.. All the money and time, along with blood and tears gone into these things.. Are they worth it?

Honestly, yes. When my car is running right I absolutely love it. No other car has ever made me smile as big as this damn thing has.
