So I was looking around underneath my car today, 3.0 quattro, and saw a weird build up of pink white material around one of the hoses. It was visible from the bottom.

The pic below is from the top, you can see the pink chalky build up. Any idea what this is? Im not losing any coolant at all, have been driving it for a month and no issues.

That's not a very good picture, might I suggest, that you take a few photos zooming "OUT" a little. That way we can tell what part of your engine your are talking about...

Those couple of water spots on that black plastic accordion hose? That could be just rain water or something. I don't see anything to worry about. Let us know when you have some *actual* pink crusty stuff somewhere, like this:

Thanks for the replies guys. I will get some better photos later today. It is most definitely pink chalky material, I can see two long stalagtite looking extensions from the bottom, all coming from that hose area. I can also see it from the top, kinda where the photo shows. Its on the driver side bank, on the lower rear of the engine below the intake area. Lots of hoses and wiring in the way, im hoping its not the dreaded rear coolant flange!

Lucky for you the 3.0 doesn't have a coolant flange. It has a metal hard pipe that runs between the cylinder heads and the block.

I am 99% sure this is the coolant nipple that threads into the coolant crossover pipe that is leaking. Can anyone provide a part number for this? I cant find it anywhere.
