My 99.5 1.8t tqm has been through a lot of changes through out its life. This car rolled into my uncles shop with the engine disassembled with the head in the trunk. The original owner brought the car to some hack in CT because the car was miss firing in one cylinder. Mechanic tore the head off the car thinking it was a Bad valve. Not sure how he cam to that conclusion. The owner brought the car back to my uncles shop and we gave him a quote to put it back together. Owner didnt want to pay the bill and said screw it. All he wanted was the $400 for the tow. Since i was a mechanic at the time, i couldnt pass it up. I took the car and put it back together. Turns out the problem was a bad ICM, which cost me $125.
Drove it stock for a while until my K03 blew. Let the fun begin:
This car is my daily driver.
-Put in Bilstein sport shocks and H&R sport springs from AWE
I bought an ATP kit off of an AZ member for $2300 and this is what it included:
-ported atp cast iron manifold
-stainless steel lines oil and coolant
-gt3071 turbo BB .63 hotside, 4 inch inlet compressor
-Vband exhaust connection with full 3" exhaust.
- 4 inch intake with ford maf
-tial 38mm external wastegate with 12psi spring (big green)
Chris tapp tuning 630cc gt3071 file:
-ecu with 93 octane and c16 race as program
-4 siemens 630cc injectors
- a 3 bar fuel pressure regulator
Intercooler piping and a 650hp core:
-custom made intercooler piping 2.5 inch stainless steel powercoated black with a turbo X BOV with a 9psi spring
-intercooler is about 28long x 9tall x 3 thick
I also picked up Bosch 044 in tank, IE rods and a Clutch Masters fx300 with the 240mm flywheel, all from Mike Hood at Ringer-Racing and installed everything. It is still a 1.8 with Stock Pistons. Here are some pics of the first set-up:

Drove that around for a while (6 months), but then i started to have issues with the tune. ECU was starting to throw RAM Error codes along with other codes that didnt make any sense. Called up Mike Hood and asked his advice on the situation. I ended up calling Chris Tapp to figure things out and lets just say the customer support over there was not good. I got rid of the Tapp tune along with the deka injectors and went with a 034 EFI Ic and harness. I also picked up Bosch 750cc EV14's.

Got it tuned By Mark Swanson @ EFI Express up in New Hampshire. The car Put down 397 WHP.
Drove the car pretty hard for a couple of months. Recently, one night while running some EVO's on the West Side Highway, my 3071r decided to not work anymore. Turns out the seals went. When i Yanked the head off the next day, i broke apart the turbo ****> Massive shaft play and bent blades.

So i called up Mike Hood to get some details on a new turbo set up. I ended up picking up a Comp turbo CT4-5562 A/R .63. I figured since the head was off, good time to upgrade some more. I also went with Supertech titanium retainers and springs, supertech Stainless steel Intake and exhaust valves (black nitrate coat), and Bosch custom machined single-tip 1000cc injectors.

I Noticed that i had a lot of play in guides so i sent out my head to to the machine shop to be fitted with brass guides and a three-angle cut.

Took the time to spay up my valve cover, exhaust mani, and intake mani black with 1300 degree paint.

I sent my exhaust housing to Comp Turbo so that they could Machine it to fit the new CHRA. It is an ATP 5-bolt adapter plate with a 3" V-band. This made life easier knowing i didnt have to reposition or even change out my downpipe which is welded to the exhaust. Here's the result:

Comparison when it arrived:

The CT4-5562 was a direct swap. It is about 1/4" longer than the GT 3071r. I had to modify the passenger headlight housing to fit the air filter.

My buddy Miguel gave me a hand on the final steps.

So as of now Im running the Bosch 750cc injectors with the old tune. Putting some miles on it to get a good seat on the valves. Should'nt take long seeing as though i use the car everyday. Going to get a tune in the next month.
