off topic but i heard you sold your car...
did you sell locally, at least, so we can at least see it time to time?
and what's with this 4.2 swap...??? i say blasphemy...!!! lol
01 Casablanca White Avant Auto for Her...01 Imola Yellow Avant 6-Speed for Him...
It may not be sensible but there's plenty of cars out there for sensible people... Like a camry!
ps.. I did not sell the car... The guy called and told me he would pick it up in 2 days and during that time I became depressed, called him on friday before he was going to come pick it up and told him I didn't think it would be healthy for me to sell... True story.
Because his car looks like a 50k car, thats why...
Was operating under the assumption he sold his car and was looking for a new project. But yes, your previous post is right. Get the S8 V8, the 4.2 guys in the C5 world spend tons of time swapping S8 heads or cams into their cars anyway.
I don't know what I would do for tuning though or what I would do with my cluster...
I researched the belt driven V8 swaps a bit and in some cases those are bolt in on the B5. Just have to add some electric fans. On an ME7 ECU it's still compatible with the cluster.

Don't do it Ben. Use that money for a tial build or something. That's a smoking deal for the engne w/ s/c & tranny. I though the guy paid over $30g for the sc & labor at speedware.
Endyn reworked mtm supercharger and heads running through a v8 with SLR style drop down exhaust exits right behind the front tires..... Now tell me again to do something common like tials.

This sounds extremely intriguing. Do it, do it now. Lol

the slr style side exit exhaust really caught my attention. by all means proceed. i imagine more under the door, through the sideskirt, so to keep the vent behind the wheel intact

Yea, I won't bother referring anyone again. You shouldn't list it if you're not serious about it as all it does is waste the time of everyone involved. I answered at least three calls about it.

Thats a smokin deal for the engine/SC. I like the idea. I would personally do a GT setup and a 3.0l or I would twin turbo the V8, even though that MTM supercharger setup is pretty cool..

It cost me much more time than you to write it up, answer all the inquiries organize shipping quotes and coordinate times to check it out and deal with people who say they're absolutely going to buy it then flake. Next time though before I post anything for sale the first thing I'll think about is all the people who aren't interested in the car. Jason, lol you silly bastard.

Uh, except the people I referred are not tire kickers, and one tried to buy the car. Just saying, usually my customers don't screw around. I guess I'm just not one of those people that lists my car for sale multiple times a year just as a 'feeler'. I'm not asking you to 'think about all the people who aren't interested in the car', I asking you to think about the people that are, and the people (like me) that immediately get calls when cars like this go up for sale from buyers looking for information for PPI's.
The main thing I think about when posting my car for sale is my family. I think about where we're at financially and wether or not I can afford to continue modding without inhibiting their lifestyle. I think about more financial freedom or some areas I would spend the money on in the immediate that would help us. Like paying the rest of the A8 off, which would free us of a hefty payment. I think of several other factors that I don't really feel the need to tell you about, nor do I expect you to anticipate.
I guess I'm not one of those people who pretends to understand all the factors a person goes through while selling something they love and new factors that may allow them not to need to. I guess I'm also not one of those people who runs a business and openly critisizes his potential customers based on personal presumptions.
Back to the topic,
I decided not to take the plunge moreover because I already committed to some other "investments".... The 2nd driver was the sleeves of the b6 4.2 being all aluminum and having to resleeve a v8 block to put in new pistons that would allow for me to push beyond 500whp if I ever wanted that. So overall, the short answer: cost...
I think 034 is going to be producing a single turbo kit for the 2.7, so if you hold off, you can possibly do something along those lines. If it is what you may want.
