I just ordered a set of 18x8.5 st8's from sonic tuning, ray is the man, anyway i wanted to see your guys opinion on tire size. Id like to go a little wider with the 235's for the track. The car is lowered, koni's and springs not coilovers, so its not slammed to the ground. Any one have any pics? Opinions? Thanks

Pretty sure Bimmerchop was running a 245/35/18 on his 18x8.5's and they where nice and squared off, yet not overly meaty. Might be something to look into as well. I'm sure he'll chime in with a pic.

EDIT: Sorry Rich Found these from another thread. Pretty much perfect if you ask me.

Im running a 235/40-18 on my 18x8.5's. If I could do it again I would have gone 245/35.

sorry to butt-in with a noob question, but with proper wheels at the ride height you guys seem to be running (I have STs.. haven't installed them yet), would I be able to run a 235 or even 245 without rolling my fenders? I've seen a bunch of threads on this, but I've had trouble finding a definitive answer

depends on the offset.. generally no.. you will need to do at least a slight roll on the fronts depending how low you are.

Rear doesn't need to be touched from what I understand

My car is currently on stasis street sport coilovers and Im not sure what my GTF is exactly, I need to re-measure, but my car isnt super low, and I only rubbed with a full load over large dips , and pretty much ONLY on the highway, in which case, the speed was also a factor. I moved to and from LA and drove the car 400+ miles with a pretty sizeable load and had no troubles either. The Continental DWS have a decent amount of tread depth and are a decently meaty tire for the size so all in all, as long as your not slammed you should be good. If I went lower however, I would roll the fronts just as a precaution. I think bimmerchop has rolled front and rears IIRC. Hope that helps.

...yes and forgot to add what Notorious said, offset plays a major role. Mine are +35 for reference.

Can you fit a 245/35 on a 18x8 rim? I really like the look of your car Rich.

Yeah, they will fit. But they will bulge out a little more than Rich's. I'd go 235's on an 8" wheel.

Depending on the suspension setup and wheel specs, rolling the fenders might be needed. My front fenders are both rolled and pulled with the liners trimmed. However, I'm dropped pretty low with an aggressive final offset (not pictured above).

Thanks! As Vinny mentioned, you should be able to fit that size no problem, it'll just sit slightly different on an 8" wide wheel.

I run 235/40's now on my B6 Avus's. I just really like that flush wide tire look.

    Same here.

You sure those aren't 235/40s though, typo maybe? It might just be the angle, but those don't look like they have a 45 sidewall.

I ran 235/35/18 on my b5 rs4 reps that were 18x8 et35 and i though the 235's were perfect. So i think i would do 245 on 8.5" wheel, and 255 on a 9" wheel. Rich's car looks perfect imo.

on a 9 inch, I'd be going 255/265. Agreed, the 245/35-18 looks perfect
