Tranny went bad?

My 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears have been grinding for almost a year now. My clutch is border line slipping. This morning I drove to work with no issue. At lunch, I started the car, press the clutch, but couldn't get it into ANY gear. Stop the car, I could get the stick into gears except reverse.
So, I left the car in 1st, press the clutch all the way, started the car, and it jumped as if the clutch was still engaged. I did it a couple of time and heard a clunk and the car started. I drove it home without further issues.

First off, what happened to my car?
Second, what are my options? should I wait to get the syncro and rebuild my tranny (grinding) or just replace the clutch and whatever is failing?

Your clutch crapped out. To engage reverse things have to be moving, which is why you didn't get it in with the engine off.

Great time to fix your trans and replace your clutch.

First off, you should not have been driving with grinding gears for a year!
Your clutch is bad, to replace the clutch, you almost have to pull the tranny, so you might as well do it all at once, but don't drive it any more unless you want to cause even more damage in there.

Yup had a huge slam on those parts, and a backorder but will have more in a couple weeks.

Your friendly dealer, but dealer cost was over $1600.00 last I checked.

However if you've been grinding gears for along time your looking at a substantial cost to fix your transmission, you will probably need 2nd and 3rd gears as well as the 3-4 collar.
