What Mantenance or Repairs have you done while owning your B6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Okay I though it might be fun just to compare who's done what maintenance/repairs on their car. Not asking for prices just a list of parts.
Criteria would be how many km's (or miles) you have racked up (when you bought it compared to how many you’re at now),
What year/trim your car is and a list of maintenance you've done since owning it.
If you want to throw in a picture or two that might make things a little more interesting but try not to whore.
This would be good to show people who are thinking of picking up a B6 for the first time.

    I'll start:

    '03 A4 1.8t Quattro Manual 5spd.
    Paid $6000 + tax (2010)
    Picked up at 186,000. KM
    Currently at 247,000. KM

    So far I’ve done.

    Suction jet pump
    Coolant flange and sensor.
    Flex pipe.
    Lower Intercooler pipe.
    Timing belt
    Clutch
    ABS module
    Coil packs
    Valve cover gasket
    Cam chain tensioner
    Engine mounts
    Snub mount
    Transmission mount
    O2 sensors
    MAF sensor
    MAP sensor
    N75 valve
    n80 valve
    Brake pads/rotors
    Control arms
    Tie rods
    Suspension
    Differential Seals
    Vac hoses
    Misc interior buttons
    Cup holder
    Card tray
    Sunroof mechanism
    Transmission
    Radiator
    Lower rad hose
    Steering rack
    dipstick tube
    Wipers
and I'm sure there is more that I have forgotten and no I dont want to add this up.

Still waiting for my head gasket and alternator and turbo to go (probably wont be too long now).

Anyways, How does this compare to your guys maintenance work?

I bought the car with absolutely no service history and no paperwork. Its previous owner was a real estate business. So I'm pretty sure it never had its oil changed from the factory.

Sometimes my car will run consistently for about a month without issues. I think that’s the longest I've made it though.

I also have an 03 1.8t quattro 5-speed, aside from regular oil changes and other maintenance, all I've had to do was the cooland flange. I bought it with 79500 miles in November 2010 and I have just over 100,000 miles now. I made sure to get one with a total service history. The previous owner took excellent care and did all services on time.

Cam Chain Tensioner gasket (didn't do it with my VCG..)

Full Vac hose and check valve replacement
    New Tires
    New Trans & diff fluid

    Wants:
    HP2 or B6S4 fronts

    2003 3.0 / 6 Spd Avant. 110k miles.
Owned for about 9k miles in ~2.5 years. Wow, that's lame. (My commute is literally a mile- but I usually have to stop at least once at a stoplight.)
I've done a few repairs that it actually didn't officially "need" and some upgrades, the usual mods S4 Blades, Mirrors, Color cluster, etc..

Otherwise, the list of things I consider maintenance, or actual repairs that it's needed:
    1. Drivers side seat tilt motor.
    2. Sunroof switch
    2. Timing belt service.
    3. Oil changes.

Isn't there a similar thread in the archives...

    But I'll Play nevertheless
    Bought B6 04 A4 Avant in 08 with 51,000 miles
USP wheels and some interior sport upgrades
    Currently has 194,600 miles

    Replaced......

    all Rotors.....Twice
    all Pads ......3 times
    Fuel pump
    Radiator....
TB and etc....Twice ( going for three )
    Tires @ $1,200 a set ....4 sets...Conti's as well as Michelin's
    coolant flange....again
    Oil + filter......have lost count but 140,000 divided by 6,000 miles = 23 times
Both front wheels bearings or thing-a-ma-jingies..LOL
    oil return lines.....
    coil packs.....twice
    plugs....every service interval
    Air filter...... see preceding

I'm probably forgetting a few things but suffice to say that the A4 B6 runs me about $4000.00 a year in just upkeep and maintenance. I'm sure you can do it for much...much less but if you are going to cruise around in an Audi then
you have to expect they are expensive to maintain. Otherwise it's a Hail Mary before you start her up each time and Go....Thanks but I like to know my Avant is going to get me home and about without problems...
Not to mention that I despise driving around in a car that groans and moans because you have not kept up on maintenance.......

Now for the fun part....This year since we are out of the economic BS and I cannot see daylight as far as time off from work......I expect to sink about $8,000 to $12,000 into it for various long planned and patiently awaited performance mods.
    Wheels-Tires
    Suspension
    BTB...and all the required peripherals
    FMIC....
    Stage II+
And when I list the requirements needed it will probably hit my higher figure if not surpass it easily.....
Caveat....It has to remain as a reliable DD so the performance is only to a point.....

Seriously...a good research trip thru the build threads like mmmBoost or the other boost or Staz or Kneel or Bische's and a lot of the other knowledgeable people here will clearly illustrate that these cars are not for the faint of heart or wallet....
I'm not even going to mention the S4/RS4 ultimate conversions like Ben Thomas or What's that Yellow Avant....

German Auto's demand to be kept up to health....If that is not OK then may I suggest a Subaru...similar go anywhere with AWD but definitely not as much fun, comfort, performance...but much easier on the wallet.

I must add that I knew very well what I was up for when I bought the Avant.....Absolutely no regrets......
Here's a funny one...The wifey was like..." Couldn't you have bought something less expensive....??? Ohhh...But I love the heated seats..."
Not to mention the Quattro when her Toyota is spinning in one place.....( though she has hinted that she likes the TT )....

Bought the car in May or June of 2011. Pretty much right before I bought it the previous owner had a new engine installed due to the sludge issue, during repairs, the turbo and a/c compressor were replaced as well. It had around 130-135k on it. I now have 146k.

    I've replaced…
A/C line going from condenser to compressor
3 tires (times are tough at the moment)
    Coolant temp sensor
    Coolant expansion tank
    Oil cooler hoses
    Coolant (obviously)
Clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder
    Engine air filter
    In cabin air filter
    Snub mount
    Oil changes every 3k
    Brake system flush

    To do…
Buy a second car (when I bought it I thought I was done delivering pizza as a second job… thought too fast there)
Upper and lower control arms up front
    Outer tie rod ends
    4 new wheels and tires
    Stage 2
    Headliner
    Various interior annoyances
    New headunit
Plus whatever I see fit at the time
…oh, and all the maintenance I can. I attempt to do a maintenance item every oil change.

Had a 2005 1.8TQ USP picked up at 0 miles, sold at 84k.

List of repairs not including regular maintenance and upgrades are:

    - Glove box hinge
    - Coil pack
    - Fuel filter
    - Driver's window regulator

All in all, it was a relatively bulletproof car.
