Gran Turismo 5 - Stand and Logitech G27 Wheel

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I have never been a fan of the Gran Turismo games, but I think it was because of a lack of commitment to the game. Now that I am a bit older, have a larger HDTV, loud/clear 5.1 surround sound, my own house, and now some extra stuff... This game really came alive!

Here is a little teaser photo of my setup. I'll upload a full res one when I get home.

    2008 A4 6MT, Quattro, VAST Stage1 Tune, Cupra R Lip, VAGCOMed, Hawk Pads, RNS-E, 10f/15r Spacers, Eyelids, Black Vinyl, RevD DV, JOM C/O's - 24.75" FTG, 255/35-18 Ventus V12's, 80000miles+

I have the Fanatec GT2 setup for my Xbox / Forza 4 and its phenominal. Not sure of logitechs stuff, but I know they have some decent history in the racing game so I wouldnt be surprised if it was similar or better.

    Either way, good shit

I have both. No offense to the OP and congratulations on your setup, but Fanatec is simply a world of difference, especially if you get the CSR Elite and Clubsport pedals with the tuning kit.
I run stretched tires, sorry for being all show and no go.

It feels surprisingly good after the software update for GT5, but as far as the Fanatec stuff goes, it is about three times more expensive, and I can't see if feeling three times better.
Is the feedback better? I am happy with how the pedals feel, how the steering wheel reacts, but I am not a huge fan of how light the shifter handle is, and how small the steering wheel is. Also some feedback on the shifter would be great. If you dont hit the clutch enough when you shift, you have to pull it back/push in the clutch, and throw it into the gear again. It should lock you out of gear and maybe make a grinding noise!

Hahaha omg I want to shake your hand lmao

I have/had the same wheel pedal setup from Logitech, as I couldn't justify the $$$ for the other stuff.

I have an HD Projector with a 120" screen and Dolby digital 7.1 surround.

For me having to actually turn my head to see out of my peripheral made the experience ultra realistic.
Real enough that my wife actually played and would race my neighbors wife (pretty good times.
All that ended when our dog chewed the cables for the wheel in half, same dog that chewed my VAG COM cable :-/

Time for another wheel then! GT5 is setup where you can use three monitors and have perifs.

two of them, and no. I's a drywall hanger thing that I slid through the stitching. I have done it a few times (since I bought that at the start of college years ago) and all it takes is a good ruffling after the pin is out to make it 100% non-noticeable.

Very cool!, if your really into sim racing and have a decent computer you should check out iRacing. I have a G27 on an Obutto but looking to upgrade to a T500RS with the Fanatec elite pedals. Heres a quick pic of my setup,(was still putting it together in the pic)

I was coming in to talk about a setup me and a friend built a couple yeas ago for forza, grabbed a nice seat out of some car at a junk yard with all the sliders and everything fully functional setup, bolted down with a wood "dash" and everything.....

But Cornelius takes the fucking cake!

The LG Booth at this past CES had an insane setup. They were running it with Need 4 speed Shift which was cool for an arcade type of vibe so that everyone can try it out, but it would have been much nicer with GT5.

I think come summer time I might go looking for a seat. I was thinking recaro but then realized there is no point since I wont actually be flying to the left or right side of my seat. I need to get a damn welder again too. I think this would be much better as a metal setup. Probably aluminum.

Anyways, I highly recommend it to anyone. Super fun and easy! Any advice wanted/needed, feel free to PM me.

And as for getting a different wheel and junk, My fiance works at best buy so I get a pretty nice discount on what they have. So no fanatec for me.

if your looking into a more modular, clean system look into 80/20 aluminum. There are some pre made kits out there but most build to their own needs. Thewayiplay.com has all the info youll need

my pic up top for some reason wont work..heres another shot of mine
