How to Get Fuel-Efficiency Menu Enabled

Hey guys,

I've done a search here already and didn't seem to find what I was looking for. I thought I had stumbled upon in once before but I can't seem to find it any more.

I'm looking to see if I can enable the fuel-efficiency menu in my DIS. I have a 2009 A4 with MMI 2G and have managed to get into the hidden menu before and tweak a few things but haven't had any luck with the fuel-efficiency menu.

Is it something that can be done through the hidden menu or is it restricted to only VAG-COM? Any ideas/instructions/links that could help me out?

Should be. I just push the reset button on the wiper stock until the speed comes up. then you can push the up/down buttons on the wiper stock until it gets to fuel economy. I think that is what you are looking for

You can enable/disable the type of info to be shown in the driver information display in MMI (Car > Instrument Panel > Trip Computer 1/2) including fuel efficiency.

when i test drove a Q5 with navi, it came standard

It's standard for 2012, maybe 2011? I had an A4 loaner w/o navi and was surprised to see it too had it. This had the non-color trip computer.

No, I believe he's referring to the "Efficiency Program" Display. Not on 09's. However, I did read that it "could" be possible on 09's with a DIS software/firmware update that some EU cars have received.

I was referring to the line below your speed/above the miles when you have hit the bottom reset button on the wiper stalk until the speed of the car shows up. Then you can use the up/down buttons on the right side of the stalk to scroll through the options on the bottom line below the speed. Info such as miles until empty, average speed average mpg, etc... Not the "how you are wasting energy screen above." Sorry for confusion.

Yeah that was what I was thinking as well that other screen use to drive me nuts in my IS250.
On another note I need to VAG my car.

Just so we are clear, Audi officially calls their new "How are you wasting energy screen" the "Fuel Efficiency Program."

It's different from simply giving us our MPG or KM/L because it monitors more than just our foot on the gas. It monitors shifting, HVAC and a few other things as well. I imagine it can be very handy, especially with my 3.2L lol.

So far mixed information...some say it's not possible to get on my 09' some say that it is. For all those who have above 09', I know for a fact that it is possible.

Hmm, that's odd...I have 09' 3.2L with coloured DIS AND WITH Navi...and don't have it. I'm hoping David can chime in here and let us know if he's had any luck with this in a 2009 model.

Are you saying you have the full ""Fuel Efficiency Program" or just the simple MPG, L/100 KM readout? Everything I've EVER read on the matter suggests that 09's do NOT have the full ""Fuel Efficiency Program." BTW, my 09 is Full NAV/Colour DIS/Tech etc. etc. and it does not.

- Blind Spot Sensors
- Park Assist
- Drive Select
- Bang and Oulfsen

I have the tech package. I have everything you have except park assist and bang and oulfsen speakers
