What Offset for 19" wheels on a A3

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a quick question to the A3 guys out there. I have a 2008 A3 Sline, Titanium Pkg. I was looking at some wheels, these in particular:

They said in 19x8.5 they only come with ET35 and will not fit my car. I am stock sline suspension, but also want to have coilovers in the near future. Along with spacers if i cant get the correct offset. What would be the best offset to fit an A3 without rubbing and have the stance look i am looking for?

    Thanks!

35 is fine, people are just afraid to run aggressive offsets. FatBrembos ran 19x8.5 et35 on his car and it was fine. Looks great

Not an attractive looking wheel but yeah, you could easily make that fitment work.

I like that wheel only cause i have a Red A3:

Would i need to run spacers to make ET35 work for a flush look? Will it rub at all when lowered?

I also thought about some VMR V710, but it seems everyone has those wheels now, so i am looking for something a little different.

spacers will push out the wheel even more. do not get spacers.
lower # more the more the wheel sticks out.

    if u want 0 issue u need et45

et35 will work in rear with removal of screw

35 will most likely hit the front fender on hard turns if your low.

Depending on how low you drop the car...35 can work.

FYI... This will only work if you stretch the tires... 215 would probably fit, but even with the screw removed you will probably still rub a little bit. My summers are slightly stretched 225s on 8.5" wheel 45 offset. Rarely ever rub, but same offset and width, on 19s with different tires rubbed all the time. Yet another thing to consider.

Might look odd on stock suspension too, so I hope you are planning on lowering.

I'm glad you posted that about your summer wheels, I'm about to pick up 18x8.5 et45 wheels and I'm putting 225s on it, so this is good to know

Thanks for the info Guys. Sounds like i need to go with ET43 or 45 in the front and ET35 in the rear. I am probably just going to go 19x8.5 all the way around.

I just put my BBS RS 320 8x17, 43 et back on after installing HPA SHS coilovers. Tires are Conti DW's in 225x45x17. I've removed the rear fender screw, but it still rubs on bumps/dips. Going to have to break out the dremel. . .

This is with the SHS rear suspension about as high as it goes; which is significantly lower than the oem height.

Another little FYI if you never ran 19s before, be prepared to take a performance hit. Depending on the wheel, some are quite heavy and waste a lot of power just turning the wheels. My old 19s used to feel like I had an extra person in the car all the time.

Good luck with the car though.

I know this link is for a GTI, but the offsets are exactly the same for the VW GTI and Audi A3. This guy is running 19x8.5 et.35 and 19x9.5 et.40. Look at the pictures. There will be tooo much poke.

For an A3 I definitely would recommend an ET45 for an 8.5" wide wheel. No modification required and it should still be pretty flush with your fenders.
