I'm interested in selling mine, but I want to keep my ECU, so this is will be just the chip.

    Any ideas?

    TIA

Honestly you're going to have a difficult time selling just the chip/encrypter socket that it plugs onto. GIAC has moved from the chip/encrypter to Flash technology and so most likely no GIAC dealer will solder on the existing chip/encrypter socket as GIAC wants everyone to be upgraded to the Flash software. Whoever you sell the chip/socket to would need to have it soldered on themselves, but then you'd need to have a bone stock chip soldered onto yours.

LMK if you have any questions.

So on my ECU, the chips are plug and play. I can remove the GIAC chip and reinsert my stock chip. That's why I wanted to sell just the chip. I was thinking to keep my stock chip (and ECU).

I'll post some pics up later for fun.

I was under the impression that other stock ECU's would also have the same plug and play option, but it sounds like maybe not ???

    Thanks!

Please post pics because unless it's one of the first chips GIAC ever did (no encryption socket) then you can only remove your chip/socket and then plug on a stock chip module(which is another chip on an encrypter socket which has had a bone stock chip file loaded onto it...not your exact stock chip that came from Audi). You have to have a set of male riser boards that have been soldered to the ECU board--either chip/socket plugs onto this.
Part number on the bottom of the performance chip/socket should read "07."

Thanks for the info. Here are the pics of my ECU and chips. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

    Top of "stock" chip:

Back of stock chip (left) next to performance chip (right [back of performance chip has the same socket allowing either to reside on ECU] ):

    Yep yep, as I thought.
Pic2 shows the male riser "pin set" I was talking about. They allow you to swap between the GIAC chip/encrypter socket(07A part #) and the offset stock chip module/encrypter(has a stock chip soldered to it)--pic3.

So, you can sell the GIAC chip/encrypter(07A) but whoever buys it will need to buy the male riser "pin set" and then have a computer place solder the pin legs to the ECU board. Of course it'll also help if the buyer has your same ECU code so they won't have to have the chip re-programmed.
Then you can drive on the stock chip module...but the question is why...do you want to drive a car with stock software?
If you want to go to a different software manufacturer, most likely you'll have to have the male pin set de-soldered, a bone stock chip soldered to the board, then whatever software Flashed on.

    Does that make sense?

I'm not planning on running the stock programming, but I wanted to keep it as a back up.

    Thanks for the info
