Hi I'm from the b5 section and was looking around on craigslist and ran across this: "1990 V8 Quattro Sedan Car $500. Has been in family since 1990. 220,000 miles. Pearl White w/ Black Interior. 10 CD Changer. Sun Roof. Power Windows. Regular Maintenance done every 3 months. Timing Belt - Starter - Heater Core- Power Steering Pump - Ty Rods have been replaced. The head gasket needs repaired radiator expansion tank needs replaced. Few other repairs needed. Perfect car to flip or someone who turns their own wrenches. If interested will send pics and answer any questions. CASH ONLY Will meet at NC DMV to switch paper work over." he also said that the power steering lines need to be repaired. he estimates about $1500 in repairs. i am planning on reselling it eventually and was wondering if this was going to be worth the time and money, and if it is a worthwhile investment. how much profit do you think would be made or lost, any information would be great. Thanks

It isn't uncommon to see running ones sell for 1000, if you wanted to part it, you might get your money out of it.

Ok thank you. Unfortunately I don't have the time to part anything out at this point.

its an old car with over 200k miles on it. nobody is going to buy it unless they are an older audi freak and want to keep it for themselves and put a new engine eventually. just sayin.

I own one... and i love it to death. but they are so unbelievable to maintain... $1500 to repair just what you have listed there is very low... this is the reason most of them get parted and they are disappearing is the outrageous cost of maintenance...

thats what i was worried about. i would love to keep it, i have been wanting a classic audi, but i would not be able to pay for the upkeep and maintenance. thank you all for the advice.

As i found out at work today... the oil change on my 1990 V8 costs more than an oil change on a 360 Modena... thats just disgusting...

You don't buy an older Audi for profit. You buy it because you like the car and want to keep it. You can make a V8 into a DD, but then again, you have to maintain it. V8s with out the proper maintenance to the trans, will not last long. The Autos, needed to be taken care of. Full flush every 2 years, period. Then they would last.

Of course, how much is it to maintain a new Audi. You can do a 5 speed upgrade to the V8s.

The can have my car when they pry my cold dead fingers from the steering wheel
