Hopefully this will be the route I go with Vast. They have a block they will build alongside their 2.0tfsi wagon Sasquatch project. Then it's a matter
Of shipping! (FKn stoked!)
I think this is one of the more thought out builds, the project section is dead from stalled or delayed projects.
you seem to have a bit of knowledge building motors, what other projects have you embarked on?
So I have a few more parts I need to buy to finish putting the engine together, I need to get a crank bolt I have not decided on either OEM or ARP, I need all the oil pan bolts gotta find how many and the part number for those, also need to source the two exhaust bracket/flange that the turbo manifold wedges into, and of course buy a clutch lol. ALso considering getting the IE dowel pin kit since I totally forgot to ask my machine shop do dowel pin the crank gear while it was there
Also I need some audi/vw specific tools to time the head specifically t10252 tool that holds the cams together, I think thats the only one I really need I can probably get a generic cam puller, and use a large socket for the cam/crank seal instead of the audi/vw specific tools. If anybody has done this before and knows of any other tools I need or would recomend let me know!
I went ahead and ordered the dowel pin kit and arp crank bolt from IE, I am paranoid about shearing the crank keyway especially after seeing what happened to slim! So the more the better. Hopefully it gets to me by the weekend so I can do a write up on how to install that stuff along with the crank seal. Bumping this up also to see if I can get the t10252 tool to time the cams so I can get the head ready and than do a writeup on that as well!
To update this I went ahead an ordered the t10252 tool so I can time the cams properly also thanks to the ETKA thread I got the bolt information and ordered up all the oil pan bolts too! As of right now I think I have all the necessary parts to put this motor into long block form. I got monday and tuesday off for presidents day weekend so when I can take the trip back home and hopefullyyyyyyy finish in time!!!
Got home this weekend and few more boxes were there for me
Thanks njschwinn for these
Than i went to the garage to install the front crank seal and drill the crank for the dowel pin kit I cut the stock crank bolt so i could fasten the gear while drilling the hole
Than I had to tighten the arp crank only managed a 1/8 of a turn even putting a piece of wood to stop the crank didnt work i kept splitting the wood so I guess Ill try to tighten it the rest when i swap the engine and bolt the transmissin to stop it from spinning
Back to the garage to install the head gasket and studs
Put the head on
I tried to torque the studs but my 12pt was to shallow to grip the head so tomorow I need to get nother so i put the rear cover on
And thats where I left off tonightt I need to tighten the cam sprocket bolt but I dont have the tool to prevent it from spinning need to find one of those but for the most part the block is back together. I gotta go to audi tomormw to get a buncha bolts specifically the stud holding the tbelt tensioner in so I can throw the timing belt on!!! I gotta make a to do list so to stay on track better lolllllll

Very nice build so far okswerve16... My car just went to Absolute Automotive where the motor is going to be rebuilt with extra goodies... I also am doing the same with the crank dowel pin to keep from shearing the key way...... Evan will be updating my build thread with what he is doing....

Of course, The motor is essentially finished an now that I ordered the clutch I have everything I need to drop in the motor minus, intake and test pipe that I have to fab up while its in the car. I just need to find the time to do that swap! And it is still a litte cold outside lol maybe wait a few weeks
I had the stern street density and I tried to have the stern trans mount put on but it just wouldn't fit properly. I ended up sticking with the oem mount but eventually I will go with the 034 trans mount. The stern motor mounts vibrate real bad though dude, I'm not the first person to swap the sterns for the 034's.

hmmm i hope i dont run into any installation problems, i got the soft mounts but they are still considerably stiffer than stock so i am expecting vibrations. The vibrations would only bother me if it caused rattling that I couldnt somehow fix lol
On another note I got to wait 4 weeks for my clutch

Tell me about it, really slows down the progress since I am basically done with the motor and just need to swap it in now. Apparently their flywheel machine shop is slammed and they are completely out of stock for b7 2.0tfsi flywheels for the fx850, there is pretty much nothing I can do. Mike has been great though and offered me many options and has been talkin to CM to get them to work on it ASAP but I am pretty deadset on a twin disc, and the fx850 is the most suited to my style of driving as opposed to the 600 and 700 series.
well to update this I bought a buncha random parts I need to finish up the engine, bolts/studs some gaskets for the turbo rest of the a/n lines for oil/coolant. I am hoping that all this stuff comes in by the weekend so I can throw the turbo on and start mocking up the cold side. I will have a buncha time though since I am waiting on my clutch!
Also piecing together a direct-port meth kit, I placed an order for the new aquamist hfs-4 with a 2 gallon howerton engineering tank. Its gunna be sick!!!! I am talking with richard to get the most out of his amazing system. So excited for this, unfortunately I am officially broke but now I have 4 weeks to save up for the tune and a few other remaining things haha.
So I think I finally bought most of the remaining pieces to get this thing running, got a bunch more various bolts and most importantly ATP MAF housing, finishing piecing together the aquamist kit, got some ARP flywheel bolts as well for when the clutch shows up. Got an adapter to run an oil pressure gauge, pretty much all that I need to buy is a fuel pump to drop in the basket still debating between a bosch 044 and the new walbro 400lph. Hopefully the parts I ordered show up this weekend so I can finish the long block and mount the turbo so I can start mocking up the intake and what not. If it wasnt for waiting on CM for the clutch this would be done in 1 week!!!!! GRRRRRR

Instead of the Walboro pump look into the aeromotive stealth pump as it flows 340lph as it also flows more with less voltage than than the others..
Its fine lol i need to decide between an 044 and the walbro but i think the walbro will be fine and it should fit easier into the oem basket but the pressure DROPS after 90 psi where the 044 is more linear so idk

I'm pretty sure John from HPFPupgrade is also working on the LPFP solution but not completely sure as you may want to give him a ring to see where he is with it?

Im gunna do something up myself nd probably post a writeup when the time comes
More parts came in today stern motor/tranny/snub some more bolts gaskets and oil pressure adaptor
Another order from GAP still hasnt come in yet I was hoping it would have been here so I could put the t-belt on and than mount the turbo and what not oh well....I didnt have much else I can do I finished torquing the head studs and put on a the knock crank and cam sesnors. Besides that just the turbo studs and anything else I could.
Still waiting on the most impartant shipment my clutch!!!!!
Anyways heres some pics of the manifold I am thinking about upgrading to RAI tubular manifold since I am doing a serious build I dont think the log manifold will cut it so if anyone wants to start piecing together a BT kit this would be a good start I have oil/coolant lines for it as well
Just placed my order for RAI tubular manifold and testpipe to mate up with an aftermarket exhaust. Also EPL just got my ecu in today so hopefully they will be able to get a base tune written up for me by the time I need to start this! Hopefully all remaining parts arrive by april 6 That is when I plan on putting in the motor. Last weekend I pulled the stock motor and sent it down to VA for glisoar didnt take many pics but it came out pretty smoothly. Still waiting on the clutch!!!! But now I got to wait for the new manifold and ecu as well. Still a bunch more things to order, gotta make all new turbo lines for the new manifold and get material for the custom intake.
My Aquamist HFS-4 kit came in pretty excited about that. I am going to run 4x 0.8mm nozzles direct port plus 1x 0.6mm nozzle after the intercooler, should be running close to 1600cc's of 100% methanol when it is all together. The HFS-4 is the only water/meth kit on the market that can read direct injectors PWM signal. It is very expensive but due to lack of rs4 injector I believe that this is the key to making big power, without secondary injectors. EPL and richard from aquamist assured me this will help get the numbers I am looking for.
