I need to order winter tires (I know a little late for today). The only two types that Tire Rack offers are the Blizzak LM-60's or the Scorpion Ice and Snow. Just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience in Colorado with these. If not I will probably just go with the Blizzaks.

I ordered General Altimax Arctics on tire rack. They have been amazing, but I do not have experience with any other snow tire for comparison.

I personally have run blizzaks for the the last 3 seasons(2 seasons on a really old style zm01 and the current season on ws60's). I love blizzaks, but you gotta understand, they to NOT like to be run on dry. They cup and wear a little funny if driven on dry for too long. Unless you get a performance blizzak(lm60, lm25...). I have driven on many sets of snows and do NOT like the "performance" snow tires. I could care less about dry handling as that is what my summer tires are for. I do like the general artimax articlaws. They are a bitchin tire for what they cost and are essentially the old hakka 4's(iirc). Good luck hunting!

Blizzak LM-60 on 18" OE-Ultrasport is my winter setup. Grew up driving Nokians/studded tires in Northern US. If we had similar day-in/day-out snow-packed roads in Denver & Front Range, would stick to this route. Conveniently, we don't, and LM60's on quattro are simply excellent in snow/ice. Head up almost every wkd in winter to grab turns. Ideal for the 95+% of dry road travel. They wear and drive like a decent performance all-season. Drove to Jackson Hole during recent 52" dump, car a complete snowmobile. Denver has it easy. If you live and travel majority of your time above 8000ft, only then I'd go full soft studless.

They are identical to the Gislaved Nord Frost 3

General is owned by Continental, who also owns Gislaved.
