Im in the Atlanta Metro and we have emissions testing. However I am wanting to upgrade my exhaust this spring. Based on what I have read and heard, I'm deciding between the new Magnaflow system (when it's actually released and reviewed) and the FI. My concern is down pipes. Does anyone Know if I/we can have piggies in Atlanta with current emissions? I want the best bang for the buck but am not going to install something to just rip it out at emissions time.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Thankfully, all we have is the OBD-II test. So, you could do any downpipes you wanted, so long as you can avoid getting a check engine light. You could get a tune that won't throw a catalyst efficiency code or you can get O2 spacers. Stratmosphere and 42 Draft Designs are the first two companies that come to mind. Summit Racing may sell them, too. They have a store south of town.
I haven't heard anything about a new magnaflow catback coming out for the B7 but would be darn interested. Right now I can't bring myself to pay $1100 for any of the other setups I've seen out there. FI, APR, Milltek etc.

I'm in North Atlanta, I just put on the RS4 Magnaflow SS catback onto my B7 S4. I love it, quad tips sounds awesome. Had to shorten it a little and bend the middle pipe a to clear the rear diff but the fit looks great. If you ever up North GA400 give me a shout if you want to check it out. There is an Ebay seller that is selling them for $785 and free shipping.

Do you have O2 spacers, a stage 2+ tune, or just luck?
First off. . . what is a "stage 2+ tune"??
Secondly, I think he has spacers. Those were my dp's and I sold them with my spacers, but he couldn't get them to fit so bought some 90* spacers. He may have gone with a JHM tune by now though.

I'm definitely interested in meeting up and hearing your setup. I'm over in gwinnett and rarely get to that side of the river. If I do get over there soon I'll be sure to PM you.
My main goal is to get the car suitable for a JHM tune, I can't do everything but I do understand a ECU tune without new exhaust is a waste...at least thats how I understand it. Plus I'd like my S4 to sound a tad meaner that it does today :-)
I listened to the review of the revised Milltek but it sounded a tad honda-y when he was revving it, could be Youtube, who knows.

yepp i have JHM 93 tune so im not running the 90 degree spacers anymore. i have tune, piggies and magnaflow catback and i had no issues
JHM 93 Tune w/ LA ** Piggies ** Magnaflow catback ** V1 Hardwire ** Podi V1 Gauge Remote Display ** A Beagle in the Back Seat ** K&N drop in ** Porsche 6000k low beams ** 3000K Fogs ** JHM Delrin Weighted Shift nob ** stern motor mounts ** stern trans mount ** Apikol snub ** 034 zero clearance snub bracket ** IM spacers ** Cupra R lip ** Thule 480 Roof Rack With 44" Fairing ** Super Blue DOT4 Brake Fluid
My plan is to ultimately do the JHM tune, but I can't do it anytime soon,
As far as Audi club, does the Audi club of America cover the membership or is it something additional? Are you Eric?
Btw, do you frequent Paul's shop?
To clarify, by joining Audi Club North America, you are also a member of the Georgia Chapter, a.k.a. the Audi Club of Georgia. Yes, I am Eric.
I don't frequent Paul's shop, but I know him pretty well, as do many of my friends and fellow club members. I've only heard good things.

By stage 2+ tune, I mean one that accounts for gutted downpipes and doesn't throw a CEL.

That's awesome! We're doing a teen driving clinic at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds big parking lot (on Sugarloaf pkwy) next Saturday. If you have some time, you should swing by and introduce yourself!
I Live in COBB county, and we do have a sniffer test, along with the ODB II test. However- I currently have "piggie pipes" and the FI catback, and passed emissions with flying colors. I do think that you would fail if you eliminated all the cats.
You are in Lawrenceville? ...I think that is far enough from the city where you don't have the sniffer test (not 100% sure on that though).

Thanks, I think my goal is to have piggie pipes and either the FI or new milltek system, so my desired setup sounds very similar if not exactly like what you have...
