Hey all,

I was just told by the shop that my brothers 1999 Saab 9-5 was leaking oil from the turbo housing. I saw the leak before the car went in, but at the time wasn't sure if it was from a leaky PCV or something else.

I can't recall if he specified the oil inlet or outlet, but he said it was bad for a turbo that was recently replaced less than a year ago and I'm inclined to agree. He said I should definitely speak with the shop that did the work and have them sort it out. The shop gave us a 1 year warranty on the turbo so I'm hoping they'll take care of it. Does anyone out there have any experience with this situation? I'm just wondering how to approach the situation with the shop who performed the work. Does anyone have any tips on how to go about this?

The warranty stipulated we get the oil changed twice within the first 5000 miles (every 2500 miles) in order to aid in breaking in the turbo. We changed the oil at 2500 miles and around 6000 miles so I'm sure they can't take issue with that, its only been driven 7-8000 miles since the new turbo was installed.

The shop itself is reputable and trustworthy, I do think they'll stand behind their work, but any tips on how to handle it would be great. I would like to go into the shop with all my eggs in a basket. I'm trying to locate the oil change reciepts, though my brother is pretty unorganized and its possible he wont be able to find them.
