I already have plans to go bigger then that with a CT43-6465.

Their 65mm exhaust wheel makes their 62mm wheel look small. lol

I would suggest picking the smaller of the CT's that fit your hp goals, it is easier to go larger then it is to go smaller since the housing can always be machined out to fit the larger wheel. So if you started with a 5362 or 5558 you could always see about swapping on a slightly larger compressor wheel.

Is there a difference in the elim kit of the gt2871r compared to the other one which you need a diff manifold for? I am saving up for the elim kit and I would be happy with that unless I see something else that would spool CLOSELY to a k04.

Elim would run cheaper but more flow usually is better. A T25 would run better but no room to grow. Plus you would need a dp made up. Really its up to you bit I would plan for the worse ( bat upgrade) and see the elim kit would sell easier. I would just port your stock mani if it was me.

Yes if the max hp goal is about 300-350whp.

Can always go GT2871r with a T3 exhaust housing if wanting to go bigger later on.

    Good thread.

You should be looking at a billet BB turbo, theres two ways of making power.

High flowing head/manifolds/turbine + low boost and pump gas

Less flowing head/manifolds/turbine + high boost and high octane fuel

First option gets you high horsepower numbers on pump, with slower spool. Second gives you high numbers with fast spool at the cost of higher octane fuel.

No but Comp Turbo offers turbos that are in the 2871r size and housings that can 400whp. They would be just slightly smaller wheels then you would get for a 500whp turbo and be in a GT2871r style housing. Those would be part of the CT2 and CTB lineup from Comp Turbo. A 2871r has a 49.2mm compressor wheel and a 47mm exhaust wheel.

CT offers the following that are just slightly larger then the 2871r and come in a GT2871r size compressor housing.
    4947 - 470hp
    5147 - 530hp
    5347 - 540hp

Next size up with a slightly larger exhaust wheel would be the 5152 and 5356.

Just read my own comment and it came out like I meant theres only 2 ways of making power, there is of course 100ways of making power, I tried to describe the extremes. Most builds ends up in the middle somewhere, running a turbo a little on the large side and meth injection to up the octane a bit.

Its good to have in mind when planning a setup, both extremes has its ups and downs. But if the goal is a nice 400whp and full boost before 4k rpm, you will be forced to choose a "small" turbo and make use of it.

It's filled with a bit of Dan, doing what he does best.

I'm looking forward to seeing both Dan and his brother's build in person. Then taking a relaxing drive to Mexico and get crazy on the throttle.

Just aim for the middle 400awhp give or take and call it a day
A ran 300awhp for a DD and it was fine, 400awhp is enough of a jump to make pavement disappear really quick.

I don't think there is much need for anything above 400awhp in the city.

I was running 630cc injectors with 94oct with meth, tubular manifold and 3076. Maestro tweaked out Eurodyne tune, Okada coil packs and built AEB head. Blown up and replaced a lot of things before i finally got the car to run like a sleeper and purr like a kitten.

As David said earlier, it is fun to drive around in but the lag below 4000rpm sucks, once you get past 4000 is it fun holding on and watching the speedo needle sweep by.

Would I do it again? Probably not. Making big power out of a 1.9-2.0L 4 cylinder engine is just stringing it out too much and even when you get it all dialed in your are still trying to make a pig fly.
