    help tubular or log?!?!?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
plans for my future build are as follows: built aeb head, ct 5857, built bottom end (1.8), 3" exhaust, w/m, eurodyne, ie cams. my question is should i go with a tubular manifold or a log? im indecisive. would like everyones advice from those that are running either. keep in mind i dont want a laggy setup, quicker spool the better. goal: 500awhp would like to be able to go higher if need be. thnks!

Cost even more money to reach 500whp on a S4 and the S4 is way harder to work on.

As for the manifold. Tube would be the best way to go if your trying to make the most power in the higher rpms, it will just have better flow into the collector and into the turbo. You can go with a cast manifold if trying to make 500whp, it will just be slightly harder to make that power vs using a equal length tube manifold.

Just depends on how hard it is pushed. I know someone with one that is going to be aiming for 500whp, the person with the CT5562 is going to be trying for 500whp too and he is already running a IIc and custom tuning.

Going for the 6062 or 6262 would be something if trying for 600-700+whp.

On a 1.8t your looking at hitting 25psi higher then 4300 rpms. The CT4-5562 on a 1.8t displacement is hitting 25-26psi at around 4300-4500 rpms on 93 octane.

remember he wants to stay 1.8. I told him 2.0 would be way better.

    i agree with Mike. If he is 2.0 + 5857 + tubular + meth
then he would be in a comfortable rpm range at 28psi.

Only if you are always running the car at redline. A car that is making the same peak power but with more power under the curve is going to be quicker every time the car is shifted into the next gear. Peak power doesn't mean anything if it takes you twice as long to get that peak power. The right size turbo is going to give you the best of both.

I'd do something real big to be safe. it's going to be hard to pick both of those on a street car. They were my exact goals but I fell a tiny bit short in both.

We have been talking about CT's which is Comp Turbo, not sure why you thought anyone was talking about PTE.

Clint that is the type of thinking that kept you from running 11's and hitting 500whp. Bigger isn't better unless your looking to get all the power out of it. It doesn't take a huge turbo to run 11's or to hit 500whp. My turbo is smaller then what you ran and yet I have been able to push 650whp.

Wow I just read this thread and thought 500whp would be nice but it is going to break shit on your car all the time. Plus how many guys are actually making 500whp with there B6 1.8t?? I know that my turbo isnt a CT but I cant see your spool coming on untill 4500rpm

I wanna see the outcome to this build. GL!

Well, yes and no. I agree I think I could do 11s on a 3071R even on pump gas. I wanted 500awhp on pump+meth that is NOT easy. My tune held me back. Also, not sure if the LWFW finally helped since I never revved it up that high I was having wideband problems. I guess we'll never know

IIRC he was down around 12.0-12.1 or basically about .5 seconds faster then I ran in Charlies Avant with a GTRS elim kit.
