Opinions & facts welcomed please. Does someone make an airbox delete for 2010 A4 Quatro, instead of a cold air intake. What are the advantages or disadvantages of either?

Do you mean something different than an open filter system such as the APR Carbonio? That is not really a true cold air system.
I'm still new to this and lingo, I heard an air box delete was cheaper then a cold air intake and did the same thing , but don't know the exact definition of an air box delete is

Maybe they are referring to removing entire stock airbox and replacing with conical type filter? Problem with that setup is the air intake temps are increased by the adjacent hot engine. The advantage of the stock airbox is that it shields the incoming air somewhat from the hot engine bay. Plus, if you look under the hood, there is a small duct near the top left corner of grill that feeds fresh cold outside air into the airbox at speed.
The APR carbonio intake replaces stock airbox with carbon fiber cover and uses a conical type filter. Problem is, i dont think it makes much power, and is mostly an appearance mod.
From what i gather reading these forums, the stock air intake is not very restrictive, and does not really need to be replaced unless going with a larger turbo.

Just my 2 cents.
thanks, I think an air box delete....deletes the resenator on the front end of the factory intake which helps cut noise, and water from getting in. after removing that and adding a new air filter (K&N) then it is a decent upgrade. BUT once again im also thinking cold air intakes are probably not needed on this car

I'm not sure if there's a resonator on the intake, but there is one after the intercooler. Replacing this supposedly reduces turbo lag. Eurocode calls it a HFIP.
Nope, no resinator on the B8 and yes, the Eurocode HFIP is good.
The 034 Turbo inlet pipe which goes from the airbox to the turbo helps with turbo lag and throttle resposne also

What about a diverter, would u say do all 3 options. How do you like your apr stage 1?
I don't know much about the diverter. I ran the stock one on my B6 for 92k miles. Right now, I have APR stage 1, 034 TIP, and Carbonio. I love it. I did APR first and that is a huge huge difference. the TIP and Carbonio are really just icing. If you wait until March, APR normally has a big spring sale where the stage 1 flash is about half price.

Just so I have it straight. The 034 is the tube behind the air box into the turbo, and the carbonio is a forced air duction now into the air box?
..and if by diverter, you are referring to the diverter valve, then you need not worry. The B6/B7's had a diaphragm diverter valve that Stage I folks upgraded to the piston-type to avoid tears and boost leaks. The B8's already have the piston-type diverter valves (OEM), so you're good.
Our airboxes are pretty efficient, and there are lots of threads on the Carbonio discussing pros/cons for the price. I have a drop-in K&N and will be getting my TIP here soon from EC, then the HFIP will be next. I do miss my APR Stage I tune from my B7, it made such a huge improvement in driving pleasure.
For performance gains, a high flow cat (HFC) is a really good bang for buck as well ($320 + install).
Frankly speaking, I am not super impressed with my HFC. It barely made a difference to me. APR Stage 1 was a huge difference though.
I will switch to stage 2 and see if it makes a difference.
