Lightbulb Gauging intrest. HPR meet/lapping day.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Well, I wanted to put this out there well in advance. As the summer approaches, I wanted to see how many people would be up to going to HPR. I figure the more planning and further out the heads up, the more people can make it out. Open lapping days for the track are on Fridays only it seems. http://highplainsraceway.com/events.html I missed out on going last year and really want to go hit the track this year (at least once). I was thinking May or June timeframe. That should give most people more than enough time to get their cars in track shape. Also I'll be bumping this from timt to time, hopefully that doesn't annoy anyone, just trying to get as much attention and thus attendence as possible. Please feel free to share your thoughts!

I'd go to watch anyway. I don't know if an A6 2.7T can be a "race car" without gutting the interior. I'll probably have springs and bigger sway bars by then, so we'll see.

Eh, A6 or A8, it's all about fun. My car is far from a "race car" and I figure, I'll be getting paseed quite often, but I'm all about the experience. My old car was a 2.0l na Mazda3 and I took that to Texas Motor Speedway (yeh the NASCAR/Indy track), twice and had a blast.

I want to so bad, but I won't do it until I do brakes, and theres not much point in the heat without a fmic. At least my clutch is ready to go finally!

Well you have a few months to do your brakes. As for the IC, we aren't doing qualifying laps for the Daytona 500 or Indy 500. It's all for fun. So if your car does heatsoak after a few runs, no big deal. Honey Badger would still do it with only ONE SMIC.

Damn it, Dave. You are right. Honey Badger don't give a shit. Since I have a new clutch, I can just engine brake, remove the hood and toss Kyle's extra smics on somewhere.

I still have my original Coolingmist pump. Just go on their site and grab the rest of the hardware, and you'll have a w/m set-up heatsoak adios!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think depending on the heat a FMIC or upgraded SMIC's is a good idea for a track day, along with proper brake fluid.....

I was actually in the process of setting up my A4 so that I could do HPR this summer, I had a second set of wheels/tires already purchased and had a fund for the AWE FMIC set up. But then I sold that car, Silly me! I have (2) friends in e46 M3's that & one cooper S that participate at HPR on a regular basis.

I probably wont romp the S4 around the track unless I can find an extra set of tires..... But I will for sure drive out there with you guys and watch you and cruise back home..... It would make for a fun day long GTG!! haha

    So to brainstorm real quick.

I figure a few people may still be in school in May. Are classes out in June?
I plan to be there all day (though I may only track the car in the morning). Do most of you think you can get the full day off? And if not, how many could at least get half a day off, and come out in the afternoon. Once again the open days are Fridays.
If a majority can only make it in the afternoon, I may postpone my runs till then too, and just watch in the morning.
There is one Monday open in June (the 11th if that works better for the majority)
    The Fridays are the: 1st, 15th, 22nd and 29th.

helmet required, right? But no other safety equipment? They have motorcycle days, right? But I think it's not the same day as car days. That would be fun.

That's the first skill you learn on the road on a bike. How to drive around all the idiots in cars! I think you have to have full leathers though, so that's out too. :(

Guess I'll throw it out there. June 15th is HPR Audizine meet day. So everyone now has time to prep their cars. If you need brakes put them on your todo list, if you where going to change your oil in July bump it up to the 1st of June. If you have some tires from last year that you are close to swapping out, use them up on the track 1st. Start planing now. I've already sourced myself a helmet, I picked up the full set of wheels mentioned above along with 2 tires. I'm about to get two more used tires form the Springs and I'll be good to go from that stand point. I'll probably have my brakes done in May. Let's beat the number of cars we had for the ice racing gtg!!!!
