Help pick out a car for my co-worker

Everyone loves playing this game, so lets see what you guys think.

She wants to keep it under $6k
Has to be automatic
Wanted to stay 2003+ for year
Doesn't need to be in the VAG family
Wants a 4dr
Can be a V6 but would like a 4cyl
Front wheel or all wheel drive (we live in lovely New England)


We checked out a few Jettas but I can't think of anything else right now. So see what you guys come up with

Ford Tarus - 06's are in he 5K range
jetta TDI is in the range starting in 03'
Mazda Protege
Chevy Impala - I wouldn't, but this isn't me.
Monte Carlo SS - same as above
Grand Prix
Grand AM
Toyota Echo
Subby Outback
Impreza
Legacy

All of those are starting in 03' unless otherwise stated.

2002-2003 Jaguar X-Type 2.5-3.0 - AWD
2002-2004 Volvo S60 - FSW or AWD
2005 Ford Five Hundred SE - AWD
2005 Mercury Montego - same thing as the five hundred with AWD

There's TONS of Jaguar X-Type's if shes willing to get a 2002 , same car as a 03 but there's just more of them with lower miles for sale.

Same thing with the Volvo.

Is mileage a factor?

So, I showed her the cars mentioned, so far she's leaning towards the Impreza or Legacy. She likes the X-type too but we can't find anything for less than $7k. The S40/S60's are nice too but she wasn't too crazy about them.

Milage isn't TOO much of a factor, but she isn't going to mod it and its just going to be a DD, so lower the better but she knows her price doesn't allow for anything crazy.

That Jag isn't bad, and not too far away either.

I got a text not too long ago asking about some car that was $9500... If she upped her budget, that would make this a TON easier. I'll find out tomorrow at work I guess.
